Alternative to Smashbox Primer

I can sadly no longer easily get hold of Smashbox primer as my local Boots no longer stock it. I’d like to look at alternatives before I order online, any recommendations? Even better if you’ve used Smashbox and then moved on 😊

L'Oreal Face Mattifying Primer is very good.

NightOwlNotEarlyBird · 05/01/2023 13:34

I no longer use primer but had used smashbox religiously (the clear one with spf) and quite liked benefit POREfressional

Mercurial123 · 05/01/2023 13:43

I now use Milk Makep Primer, it's really good.

I had the very same issue and am gutted they no longer sell in UK.
I've tried a few and the closest I can find is NYX and was also mentioned by someone as a good dupe on another thread.

NYX Professional Makeup Studio Perfect Primer - Clear, Makeup Primer Base, Even Complexion, Minimises Fine Lines and Pores, Vegan Formula amzn.eu/d/81efJBZ

Not quite as perfect as the smashbox but pretty close and only a tenner

LadyOfTheCanyon · 05/01/2023 16:23

Benefit Porefessional is very similar in texture and finish.

Tonsiltrouble · 05/01/2023 16:34

I like The Ordinary silicone primer. Really cheap, goes on nicely. Tolerated by my super sensitive skin

This is the best primer I’ve ever used.

SoLongFurlough · 05/01/2023 21:10

The ELF poreless primer is good & very similar to the smashbox one

Yes, me too. I used to use the Smashbox hydrating primer years ago, but now use this to stop my nose being a speckledy mess of foundation.

Aldi sometimes do a dupe which is pretty good! Not sure if they’ll restock…

Lanacane anti chaff gel has the same ingredients iirc, it's good anyway.

keri17 · 05/01/2023 22:11

Lanacane has always been cited as a great dupe. I need to try

I miss smashbox already :( I’ve been using Estée Lauder but I can’t afford that long term.

I never found benefit porefessional any good , don’t understand the hype

it also depends if you use foundation, and whether it’s oil/water based

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 05/01/2023 22:28

Lanacane is great, I've been using it for years

ShakeABake · 06/01/2023 12:46

Thanks all! I shall look into these!
