Can someone explain to me in simple
terms the difference in these two?

i am needing drastic action taken for my crows feet. My skin is also so bloody dehydrated. I’m mid 30’s but look dreadful.

also could you recommend a brand to buy. I’m definitely ordering tonight as completely fed up of looking haggard all the time. 2023 is my year to look after myself a bit more, physically and mentally.

TIA 😘

Retinoid is the category name, retinol is a retinoid but not all retinoids are retinol. I would warn it's not some miracle cream that will give you overnight results and magically turn your skin around. Six months for any noticeable results at minimum and annoyingly the introduction period can often make your skin look worse.

On the back of that I wouldn't advise rashly buying one when dehydration is your main issue ATM as that will just intensify. Get that under control first by strengthening your skin barrier and only then consider an OTC retinoid (Medik8 Crystal retinal is my main pick provided you don't have sensitive skin) or go with one of the prescription services like Dermatica or Skin+Me.
