Bitten, short nails - can I have them 'done'?

Over the festive period I've seen friends, family and colleagues with lovely, festive nails. Mine are short and bitten but I'd love them 'done'. Can they be made bonny and what would I ask for?

I had gel nails done for a while when I used to bite my nails. I couldn't bite them with the gel and it slowly got me out of the habit. 5 years on and I don't often wear nail polish and never bite my nails. I probably had the gels for about a year. Expensive as had it done every 2/3 weeks but I'm so pleased now.
