I have Kayali Vanilla 28 and adore it so am interested in exploring other vanilla fragrances. What would you recommend I look at. Is Killian love don't be shy a vanilla? It sounds like it's quite sweet.

The nicest (and not that sickly sweet vanilla sadly popular right now) is Prada Infusions de Vanille. It's vanilla, but it's a real rich vanilla. Not sure if you can still get it (or want to spend that much, if not, then Perfume Parlour do a dupe) Tom Ford Tobacco Vanilla is a smoky vanilla. Andy Tauer Vanilla Flash is a bit sweeter IMO, but still not overpowering. 4160 Tuesdays Creamy Vanilla Crumble is also not too "teenage body spray" as Cosmopolitan puts it about vanilla fragrance!

I love Hypnotic Poison (almonds, spicy vanilla)

Also worth trying for non sickly sweet vanilla's (if you haven't already!) are Laura Mercier Ambree Vanille and Lush Vanillary.

If I could afford it, I'd buy Aerin Tangier Vanille which is a stunning powdery, woody vanilla.

Thank you very much for the suggestions! Yes trying to avoid teenage body spray vanilla. The Tom Ford sounds interesting.

I’ve worn shalimar since my late teens. Not a pure vanilla but I seem to pick it out quite strongly on me. It’s lovely (and heady - I only wear it in winter) and not sickly at all. If you don’t mind trying something that’s not a pure vanilla this is a classic (although I’m not a ‘perfumista’ so maybe I shouldn’t be saying that!).

Do you know, I'd never thought of Shalimar (also my go to winter scent- I swear it warms me up just by putting it on) as vanilla-y but I suppose it is. A chocolate spicy orange vanilla.

Love Don't Be Shy smells like grape cough syrup on me I'm afraid. I don't pick up any vanilla in it at all

weebarra · 02/01/2023 10:49

I love Vanille et Coco by e.coudray.

This is good to know!

I shall give shalimar a sniff. I'm going to be spending next weekend sniffing things in the shops and then wearing one and going back to buy it if I like it the next day.

I like Serge Lutens Un Bois Vanille

HamHand · 02/01/2023 11:17

Diptyque eau duelle is a gorgeous vanilla. Fairly simple, a slightly spicy edge. I love it for this time of year

This is the most gorgeous vanilla scent.

Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille leans more smoky tobacco on me - you get the vanilla as a sweet dry down but it’s not a overtly vanilla perfume (on me anyway)

brusselspout · 02/01/2023 11:24

Atelier de Cologne , vanille incensé is an incredible vanilla

NegroniLover · 02/01/2023 12:25

Tom Ford Tobacco Vanilla is gorgeous & I'm not a huge vanilla scent fan. I love the smokiness of that one

Dotcheck · 02/01/2023 12:26

Floral Street- Vanilla orchid

SummaLuvin · 02/01/2023 14:44

Love Don't Be Shy is stunning, unlike PP I love it. It is very sweet but I wouldn't pull vanilla out as one of the main notes. I am not a scent expert at all, I just like what I like, but I would describe it as orange blossom and marshmallow.

Another poster mentioned Eau Duelle by Diptyque, this is another scent I adore and while it does have a definitive vanilla-ness to it, it also also heavy with warm spices. So it depends if you want vanilla to stand alone as the star, or vanilla amongst friends.

LBB2020 · 02/01/2023 15:08

I second diptyque l'eau duelle, it’s my favourite autumn/winter perfume

Thatsasmashingblouseyouvegoton · 02/01/2023 15:10

4160tuesdays creamy vanilla crumble
