Need new gym kit, any recommendations?

Ive joined a new gym where I don’t think my tatty, worn out leggings and nylon tops from the supermarket are quite going to cut it. I’ll be mainly doing different types of classes, dancing and spinning are my favourite. I’m a size 12, any recommendations for decent quality but not extortionately priced gym kit please? Things seem to have moved on a bit and I was recommend some leggings the other day which cost £88, yikes!

Tbh I get on better with cheap USA Pro leggings much better than Sweaty Betty! They stay up and aren’t see through/thin and are a decent price.

Haven’t cracked tops yet!

dementedpixie · 31/12/2022 20:35

I like matalan leggings. I wear the cropped ones.
Tops I get from curvissa usually as I need a size 22/24 because of boob size

AaBbC · 31/12/2022 20:39

I use Gym King leggings / bras / sports tops

Depending on the weather depends on the top & then throw a hoodie over the top if it's cold going to and from

Niftythrifter · 31/12/2022 20:41

I’m happy with my Primark kit for running.

NameIsBryceQuinlan · 31/12/2022 20:41

Sweaty betty have a sale on at the moment it's good quality

Duvetdweller · 31/12/2022 20:42

Gym Shark is good quality

RemindMeAgain · 31/12/2022 20:50

Thanks @Iwritethissittinginthekitchensink those look like they could be worth a try.

I’ve always just worn nylon T-shirt style tops but there seem to be a lot of sleeveless T-shirts and vests at this new place. I know it doesn’t matter really but I could do with some new stuff anyway so I might as well try and choose something current.

H&M sale has some great kit

BangingOn · 31/12/2022 22:28

Sweaty Betty or Kit Change.

rattlemehearties · 31/12/2022 22:32

Sweaty Betty power leggings, some are on sale now for £48 (January sales), they are great quality and fit.

lipstickwoman · 31/12/2022 22:34

M&S Goodmove and Tesco F&F. Decathlon for thermal leggings.

AC2022 · 31/12/2022 22:39

I second the M&S Goodmove range. Really good quality. I have the scoop neck t shirt in most colours and they are great. Leggings are around £30 and are great quality and keep their shape despite frequent washing. Loads of colours too.

countdowntonap · 31/12/2022 22:39

I have a mix of:
Sweaty Betty
Oysho (part of the Zara brand and fab leggings)
Amazon (mainly Icyzone) for unusual stylish sports bras and tops - everyone asks me where they’re from

Thanks everyone and Happy New Year x

Another vote for SB sale - incredibly good value.

Check The Outnet and Flannels outlet also - some high end gear at amazing prices. I never pay full price and have acquired some seriously gorgeous stuff (which motivates me to work out more!).

FlySwimmer · 01/01/2023 12:11

M&S Goodmove’s range is one I like & is affordable. Some nice patterns/prints, and a mix of vests, T-shirts and long sleeves depending on what you settle on. Vests may be a thing at your gym OP if it’s very warm? Even in the dead of winter I wear short sleeves at most at my gym as it’s always warm, then add exercise on top!

The Dhb range on wiggle.co.uk is another one I like, again affordable though mostly plain colours. I particularly like their leggings as many have two side pockets, a drawstring waist, and just seem to fit me well as a taller woman.

I've ordered some things in the Sweaty Betty sale, so will report back!

Aurelia53 · 11/01/2023 18:01

TKMaxx, lots of quality brands at reduced prices.

Sostressed1234 · 11/01/2023 18:11

Tikiboo - really good quality, great designs & squat proof x

PeachyPeachTrees · 11/01/2023 19:39

I got good quality gym stuff from TK Maxx and very affordable.

Kmwa · 11/01/2023 19:44

I have been a gym go'er for years and tried so many different brands of gym leggings. Nothing has beaten these from next. They are completely squat proof, high waist for tummy support and comfortable at the same time. Definately size up though.

I just got some gym leggings from Costco. Can't remember the brand, think it begins with M, they are really comfy, stay up and they even have pockets!

Troublewithtribbles · 11/01/2023 20:02

Wear a lot of fitness gear. I love Ryderwear outlet, Tikiboo fab if you like colour and designs, also have an outlet and they do sporadic 30% so worth signing up for their emails, plus if you do Clubbercise their is a participant discount, Reebok mid range, have an outlet and do sporadic sales, Shein tops are very cheap , but surprisingly good and they have a more upmarket range called Glow Move. Not tried their leggings.

Montague22 · 11/01/2023 21:06

Next sports leggings, just so comfy
I actually like Victoria’s Secret for sports bras and don’t actually shop there otherwise
I wear any old top though

FlySwimmer · 11/01/2023 21:14

My Sweaty Betty leggings are really lovely, now that they’ve arrived and I’ve tried them out. They are definitely spendy, even in the sale; I would never buy them at full price. But they are buttery soft.

WeeM · 11/01/2023 23:04

I’ve tried so many types of leggings and was also coming to say my faves are ones from Next! I have a few pairs and prefer them to all my others. I also like some I’ve had from My protein.
