Stupid acid peel - help!

A couple of years ago I bought a Revolution phytic and salicylic acid peel. I found it in the bathroom cabinet last night and as I have barely done any sort of exfoliation the last couple of weeks thought it would be the perfect time to use it.

Obviously I woke up this morning with red, burned cheeks. In my defence I had a migraine yesterday so didn't stop to think why it was shoved in the back of the cupboard!

I have put some Savalon wound healing ointment on which is for mild burns etc. I also have some Cetaphil moisturiser that my skin loves. Can anyone recommend anything else to help sooth/heal? I don't have sensitive skin at all so can normally put anything on without an issue.

The peel is now in the bin.

I’d just use a light moisturiser and let nature take its course. Antiseptics kill bacteria but they also harm newly healing tissue too.

Thank you, I suspect it will just be a waiting game! Its Elastoplast ointment, not Savlon, no antiseptic at all, just parafin, glycerine, panthenol and vaseline. Hopefully soothing enough and is recommended for burns.

La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume is a miracle worker and will restore your skin back to normal.

Oooh, is it worth paying for next day delivery? I'm willing to if it helps!

Cicaplast b5 baume worked miracles on my sunburnt face so it would be what I'd reach for in this instance.

Shadesofscarlett · 30/12/2022 12:21

I would recommend vaseline

I think you can buy Cicaplast from Boots but otherwise I would definitely say its worth paying for next day

The burn ointment I slathered on this morning has petroleum jelly in. It definitely looks better than it did, still red though! Might get the Cicaplast to use as a moisturiser for a while so it doesn't get irritated by something else.

I'm so annoyed with myself, I have a pretty good skincare routine and keep chemical exfoliation to once a week. All my hard work wasted!
