What do i wear ? Is it kinda mother of the bride type attire? Ive seen nice trouser suits in Reiss i like the look of for both of us actually if she fancies that kind of look. I thought at least she could wear it again rather than a night out type dress.

But anyway back to me 🤣

there are loads of threads on here. I've been to several, and there is quite a range of styles. Best dressed are mother of the bride minus the head gear. I've also seen men in long shorts and short sleeved shirts. Fat women with short skirts that look as if they have spent all night clubbing.

Trouser suit could work, or a nice dress and jacket/cardi. Flat shoes good idea as there is lots of standing around and walking.

Is there a dress code for her? Mine did- black or navy under gown, unless wearing national dress.

guests pretty much anything other than jeans or shorts. Dress, skirt, trousers, whatever.

Whatever suits you colour and style wise. Comfortable shoes as there can be a lot of standing around.
At my sons’ graduations it varied from anorak and jeans to The Queen Mother and everything in between.

I have been to 5 and it’s a bit less than mother of the bride. So a nice dress, or too/trousers, definitely no hat. Perhaps flat shoes so your heels don’t sink in the grass when you want a photo.

For your DD, vibe aware that the coloured cloak hood thing has a little button loop to keep it in place. So men can fasten this to one of their shirt buttons under their tie and their hood stays in the right place. Women are offered a safety pin but the weight of the hood can pull the top/dress up. If you don’t attach it to anything, it rides up and ends up resting around your throat with the hood being too long in the back. For my first I had some detail around the collar bones and I sewed a small button on. For my second I went with a shirt dress.

Mother of the bride is perhaps a bit much because really anything goes. I'd say a nice dress or jumpsuit.

Agree with what PP was saying about there being a loop to put around a button so it's an idea to have something to attach that to. So a reasonably heavyweight fabric (not silk or satin as it will pull).

Trouser suit sounds great.

I wore a black broderie dress and heels with a biker jacket. Other mothers ranged from jeans to mother of the bride, but I felt just right.

Varies by institution a bit but plenty of per Una dress and jacket combos, summer dresses, others are in jersey dresses and cardigans (especially winter graduations. Men in suits or trousers and blazers but ties were far from universal and the smart jeans and Jacket with shirt option was common. Some were in casual clothing though, it's not an issue

Should add I did 2 last summer at different institutions!

Think of what you would wear for lunch at a nice restaurant - that’s about the level in my experience (2 graduations). But it varies wildly - from full on MoB to jeans.

Its the students who need to be guided better IMVHO - girls looking like they are going clubbing in particular (boys in suits or chinos/shirt can’t really go wrong) - shoe choice is key: there’s a lot of standing around and sometimes in grass. Also bear in mind the type of floor in the venue: witnessing numerous girls in spike heels skid awkwardly down the stone floored aisle of an ancient cathedral is amusing for the congregation but not so much for the graduands 😉

DD will be in Doc Martens. I’ve got absolutely no doubt about that whatever it’s worn with.
My other two girls will Glam it up though, so I will mention to them that they will be standing around a lot.
