Winter wedding outfit help

I'm going to a good friends wedding at the end of Jan. I'm am disappointingly much fatter than I wanted to be having regained weight over the past few months.

I'm 5ft 7 and size 14/16. More 16 currently I'd say. Legs are good, I don't have big boobs, carrying weight on muddle (hips, bum, tum).

I'm 45. I don't have hundreds to spend but I really do want to look/feel good.

I'm hoping to shed a few lbs between now and then which will go from my front first. My arms are bigger than average (biceps rather than fat) so I always struggle with sleeves (even when I was a size 10).

Any suggestions please?

Hi OP, I went to a winter wedding a couple of years ago - was pregnant but also heavy and generally looked like I'd eaten all the pies - which TBF was a fairly accurate reflection of the situation :)

The big thing to consider is the temperature difference between venues - the wedding I was at had a freezing historical church ceremony but then reception at (thankfully) a toasty warm hotel. So I wore a nice dress but then added a glam faux fur coat for the ceremony.

Girls who'd just gone for nice dresses were blue with cold by the end of the ceremony. Girls who'd gone for sensible tweedy type outfits were drenched in sweat when the dancing got going!

What does the invitation say about the venues? That's your answer.

This is quite similar to the dress I chose - nice in the dark pink?

The whole thing is at the sane venue, which I'm told is quite warm! So no need to worry about keeping warm , or being cold between venues

I do quite like that dress, it wouldn't be my usual choice but that's because mentally I'm still 25 and a Size 10 🤣 this is part of my problem, I see things I like but they wouldn't look good on me now

Some fantastic sales out there at the moment. Any ideas on length/colour preferences? Here's a few to start you off

The only properly winter wedding I've ever been to was at one venue too - I wore a beautiful metallic jacquard midi skirt with a plainish black short sleeve top, with black heels and a black leather biker jacket (it was a cool wedding!).

Actually I went to another in March that was bloody freezing - wore another gorgeous navy midi skirt with pockets, a beaded sleeveless top and then a navy woollen coat over everything, for the church service (also had a tiny baby in a sling under the coat, which kept me super warm 😁).

I reckon something velvet for a winter wedding, in a nice jewel tone. Maybe something like one of these:

I've left it to the last minute somewhat.

Is thus suitable?

That's really pretty.

Argh, so bridesmaid are in navy, and have chosen their own dresses. Maybe not then.

I would say go with @Laquila suggestion of a midi skirt with top
