Fuller bust instagrammers - with clothes on?!

Cinnamonandcoal · 27/12/2022 22:40

As the unfortunate owner of 34Js, buying clothes is hard.

Lingerie also used to be v hard but there are a load of great brands these days, plus a bunch of women on Instagram who try all the bras on and see which are good. Helpful!

No so many specialist clothing brands particularly since Pepperberry disappeared, and I also haven't found anyone on Instagram who is a similar shape and looks at clothing rather than lingerie. The ones that do try clothes are generally in their early 20s and go for tightness and lots of cleavage.

I'm in my mid-30s in a corporate job and would LOVE to find someone out there who is scouring the shops to inspire others with the clothes out there which might fit and which are the kind of things I'd buy. Is there anyone I haven't come across yet? Or any other suggestions?

I just don't have the time to spend hours shopping in person and when ordering online I send 95% back because it doesn't work for me, even though I only order the shapes which might work! I'm very ready to be influenced.

Following and bump

OnceAgainWithFeeling · 27/12/2022 22:51

Another 3J here.

It’s a nightmare these days. Everything is high necked and boxy. I tend to buy second hand Pepperberry etc. But that resource will
run dry soon enough. :(

OnceAgainWithFeeling · 27/12/2022 22:53

Any of these work?

38H owner here for ideas. I have had success with asos curve tops and next fuller bust range. Anything with a belt and the waist is too high, all skirts make me look more top heavy. Please no wrap top/dress suggestions!

SleekMamma · 27/12/2022 23:07

Maybe buy the top you like that fits the bust. And take it in at the hem?
Literally sewing a triangle so it comes in to your waist. Is that doable?

Squamata · 27/12/2022 23:13

I've given up, the baggy fit stuff and prairie dresses you find now make me look batty. I'm learning to sew so I can make patterns from www.cashmerette.com/

Cinnamonandcoal · 28/12/2022 00:01

Thanks, I do take in at the waist sometimes. But even buying a few sizes up doesn't necessarily mean my boobs fit!

The taideux bloggers and also ASOS fuller bust are still mostly either lingerie or clothes more suited to younger women or those wanting much more revealing stuff.

Not Amish but also with my age/job/lifestyle it's a hard no to corset tops, cutouts, skintight etc...

Will look at Next as I don't usually shop there.

There are sooo many clothing instagrammers out there, hard to believe there aren't any who do this. Pepperberry may have gone but it was successful for a long time even though the clothes weren't amazing. There's clearly a market!

Tbh a lot of women get into dressmaking to solve specific clothing issues. Lidl sells singer sewing machines every few months, lots of really good online courses and fabric to buy. Quite a few sewing conference exhibition things too, to buy fabric in person and go to workshops.

I'd get a sewing machine!

My aim is to sew my complete work wardrobe. Only fabrics colours styles that suit and fit me. A bit of a long term plan, but I'm fed up with shops for clothes shopping.

GetOffTheRoof · 28/12/2022 00:20

Jessontheplussize on Instagram - she's a size 24 I think, no idea about her bust tbh. She does a lot with In The Style who seem to be generous in sizing. I'm a 42G and have no issues with clothes being true to size.

Cinnamonandcoal · 28/12/2022 00:26

Very much don't have time to sew my clothes from scratch unfortunately. Small kids and job is more than full time.

@ hey.theclosest on Instagram. Claudia is currently pregnant so slightly different styling but covers both lingerie and clothing working with curvy Kate, pour moi etc.

She’s an amazing lady!

ProseccoandPizza · 28/12/2022 00:33

Urgh hey.thecloset even!

stickybear · 28/12/2022 00:42

Curvesandcampervans on Instagram? She's very Joules / Fat Face if that's you're thing, but always looks lovely

Cinnamonandcoal · 28/12/2022 17:58

Thanks for the suggestions. I will check them out. Any other ideas please share. Maybe we need an ongoing thread on here to link to clothes that work.

FairlieCurved on Instagram might be an option to follow ….

Cinnamonandcoal · 28/12/2022 19:15

Ah, I have looked many times but unfortunately I never see anything I like enough to buy. Really wish I could buy from there as apart from anything else I would like to support the enterprise! I guess just not my style.

Have you tried some of the made to measure websites? Have a look at eshakti. Some if the stuff is a bit mad but there are some simpler styles on there. There's also iheartmycloset for some lovely retro type stuff.
I feel your pain, I'm 36e with broad shoulders and narrow hips.

I'd love this thread as a place to store high st clothes that work. I'm a 5ft 5 12 on bottom and 14 / 32-34J on top and really struggle

roselune · 28/12/2022 23:28

Have a look at @ inpolife on IG. A bit outside your age range but I've definitely found it interesting seeing her wear some things I usually only see on size 10 models on the brand websites.

MoreThanRubies · 29/12/2022 03:20

How about Can I Breastfeed in It? Bit random, I know, but while the emphasis is on access, the women are all dealing with dressing larger than average breasts.

Madagascary · 29/12/2022 03:31

Bit of an extreme option but … consider a reduction. I’m a few months in and it’s incredible- the change.

life doesn’t need to be this difficult. Wish I’d known earlier.

Worklessplaymore · 29/12/2022 03:55

No influencer recommendations but a few tips for corporate dressing:

  • wide legged flowing trousers balance out a big bust and there are a lot of wide legged styles atm
  • go for fine knits that are ribbed as the ribbing helps with the fit and gives you a waist; perhaps v-necked cardigans with a low camisole or ribbed knitted or jersey polo shirts with a collar

This sort of look but with long sleeves (as short sleeves end where your bust is largest and make you look wide all the way across):

www.marksandspencer.com/pt/ribbed-collared-button-through-knitted-top/p/P60557508.html

  • buy jackets that are soft: perhaps half cardigan/half jacket and buy to fit your shoulders not your bust so don't close them, with a darker coloured top filling the gap if that makes sense. Another style of jacket that can work with a big bust is the half-cape half-jacket type but you have to be very careful with the fit.
  • look for extra curvy stretchy shirts or v necked cardigans and take them to get altered so that the button placket is sewn up at the back to avoid gaping
  • you can even put a sort of v-neck twin-set look together by getting someone to sew a stretchy top in a dark colour under an open v neck cardigan; so that the sides of the cardigan don't constantly fall backwards. Or pin the cardigan closed to your top with safety pins.
  • experiment with shoulder pads to broaden your shoulders
  • it's often good to roll up your sleeves a bit at the wrist to expose the thinnest part of your arm too. Or to have wide collars and long floppy cuffs to distract the eye away from the bust. Or colourful bracelets.
  • another trick is to wear a classic white shirt with a low v-neck knitted tank top in a dark colour over it, so you literally darken your bust area.

Good bras essential!

Worklessplaymore · 29/12/2022 04:06

Obviously in the M& S link would have much deeper v and as I said, long sleeves.

This is a better example: this kind of top in black with lighter coloured bottom half

Nat6999 · 29/12/2022 04:13

Look at Georgina Grogan on Instagram, she is a larger booked lady who wears retro style clothing.
