Simple 1920s Hairstyles

I'm going to a Great Gatsby themed NYE party and I'm trying to find a hairstyle I can do that's relatively on theme. Here's the thing... I'm absolutely rubbish at doing my hair!

My hair is quite long (goes to just under my boobs), and quite thin and flat, so I know naturally my hair really isn't on theme. I've looked up finger curls and faux bobs, searched youtube for "easy 20s hairstyles", but all the tutorials I'm finding still feel rather advanced to me and require lots of different products and accessories.

Can anyone recommend any hairstyles that are actually beginner friendly, or is it the case that all 1920s styles require some skill? I was thinking that a simple up do would also suffice if anyone has any recommendations for tutorials?

You need a head band - something in a colour that ties into your dress

Then v low loose ponytail, twist up and clip to give the idea of a bob, headband that goes round the middle of your forehead

hairstyles for long hair - easier

headband can do the effort

These might be achievable.

Scratch the second bit - just get the headband and let it go the work!!

Or just wave/curl it with a statement headband.

Thank you! I've just ordered a headband. Crisis averted. 😁

I went to a 20s themed party when I had thick, long, wavy hair (a good few years ago!).

Loads of styling mousse, then I straightened my hair, then gathered it with about 5" of hair below the gather. Lifted the gather onto the top of my head and clipped it there with a bar-style clasp. This gave the appearance of a bob. (It took a few goes to get the scrunchy in the right place.) Then removed the scrunchy and combed the tail into my fringe. IIRC I actually trimmed it then to make the fringe very boxy. Headband went over it all to hold it all in place. I added a huge artificial flower to the headband, which drew the eye away from the clip on the top of my head.

Think about your makeup as well. Probably heavy eyeliner and mascara, but no eyeshadow. Rosy blusher somewhat further forward than we would place it now. Lipstick to make the lips less wide, but more full.
