True winter v bright winter?

Does anyone know about colours?

I'm trying to get my head around it. I'm pretty sure I'm a winter but can't work out if I'm 'true' or 'bright'.

I've got pale skin (but I do tan and get freckles), blue eyes, dark brown hair.

One of the sites I've been reading says true winters have Ash brown hair with no natural highlights but I naturally have a bit of lighter, chestnut tones in my hair, especially in summer.

And I think I look fine in gold jewellery but maybe I'm wrong!

It's all so confusing!

Maybe the question is "does it matter?".

I think you need proper advice based on photos.
I thought I was a winter but have been told I’m an autumn. Not sure which sub category but looking at them they are all quite different.
I don’t have an eye for it at all so have just carried on wearing the colours I like! So no, I don’t think it really does matter!

Thanks @Flapjack637. Interesting that you turned out to be an autumn. How did you find out? Was it an online consultation or did you go and meet a colour consultant?
You're right that it probably doesn't matter.

Yes an online style analysis about 2 years ago now.
I’ve used the body shape part of it as I found that really helpful but I’m positive the typical autumn colours don’t suit me at all.
The deep autumn palette looks like it might fit, as nudes and camels really don’t suit me, and there is only a slight difference in some of those colours from a winter palette.
The stylist Emily Innes does colours down to your sub category so I’m tempted to pay for that one to get a better idea but I think really it’s something that needs doing in person. I’d find it useful for makeup colours more than anything I think as I love the winter jewel tones so I’m always drawn towards those.

I look awful in autumn colours and, like you, I'm drawn to bright, cool, jewel colours. Is it possible the consultant got it wrong if it was online and you don't feel the autumn tones flatter you?

I find this webpage useful.

Yes definitely possible. One photo I sent was taken during a sunset so probably made me look a lot more warm toned than I actually am. I do wonder if I am more neutral than cool toned though as my veins can appear green. It’s mind boggling! I would love to be able to buy clothes that really suit me though especially now I’m older as my skin often looks terrible so I need all the help I can get!
hope you figure yours out! xx
