Weekend in Brighton

Hi, am going on a weekend break with a new boyfriend middle of January and have no idea what to take clothes wise.

it will obviously be freezing on the coast and plans are to have dinner out, play some pool and maybe go to the casino

i literally haven’t been away for about 10 years and don’t have a clue how dressed up or casual to go, especially in the casino. I’ve never even been in one 🤣

any suggestions please?

I've never been to the casinos in Brighton but a friend of mine went to the one on the seafront last week and said it was very scruffy and underwhelming compared to some of the more high end London casinos. The one at the Marina looks smarter from the outside. However as a general rule Brighton is quite a casual (verging on bohemian) city so I'd err on the side of underdressed rather than overdressed. I'd opt for a midi dress with flat boots or trainers but that may not be your style.

i live part time in Brighton and part time in London and IME Brighton is normally noticeably warmer than London so don't worry too much about the cold. The thing that often catches me out there is the wind - it can straighten a curly blowdry in 5 minutes. I often wear a beanie not for warmth but for wind defence.

have a good time - so many lovely restaurants in Brighton.

Go to the casino by the marina if you want a nicer experience. It'll be a taxi ride or a long walk along the coast to get there. You do have to register with them before you can enter.

Weather wise if will be SO cold. Bring plenty of layers as the wind can cut through you some days. Generally Brighton is lovely during the winter ambience wise. Some thick boots and a cosy scarf and hat will be needed. Oh, and a brolley!

You don't need to be overly smart at the casino, just no trainers if you can avoid it. Some people go very flash, others more smart casual. It's really up to you. I wouldn't go overboard though.

Why are people responding to something that took place six months ago?

Skinnermarink · 01/07/2023 15:48

And presumably they think it’s still winter 😂

Idiot spam, there aren’t ‘many’ casinos in Brighton at all.
