Hair, constantly change mind

I am mid 40's and my hair has been long for a while, just below my shoulders but my hairdresser ghosted me (not offended they have a different job and this was an extra for them whilst they migrated away from hairdressing) so I haven't found a new one yet. When I have long hair I want to chop it much shorter but then I usually want the opposite when I have. I feel like my hair isn't doing me any favours face nor style wise. It's wavy/curly but being long it's not as noticeable. It's fine but I have lots of it. I like the colour. I feel like I just want someone who will cut it into something that will suit me but that only seems to happen on the tv.
Do I need to pay to go and see a really decent hairdresser and get them to do over a makeover?

Sounds like my DD's hair, she like to have it looooong and the curl isn't that obvious.

When she wanted a proper cut I sought out a specific curly hairdresser (with curly hair to!) honestly it was like therapy. Got lots of tips and tricks and they cut it beautifully so it sits nicely.

It's a bit more £ but worth it I think.

Oooh don't suppose you are in London or the southeast? Would rather go to someone recommended.
