Jeans!

Would I be unreasonable to buy skinny jeans? I need new jeans. The last jeans I bought were bootcut/slim flares, which I really like wearing with trainers, and they are more comfortable than skinnies. But they just don't seem to work with chunky boots (I can wear them with smarter boots for an evening out), or when it's wet out. I know skinnies are supposedly out, but as far as I can see, most of the women my age (40s) still seem to wear them where I live. But I feel like I'm taking a step back if I buy a new pair of skinnies now. My current blue skinny ones are so old they are very close to having a hole worn out in the crotch because I've been holding off getting another skinny pair.

Skinnies are the best style to tuck into boots & for that reason they'll be around for a while. I have also been rolling Mom jeans up & wearing them with DMs.

I wear chunky boots with cropped straight leg jeans now. No need for tucking or succumbing to skinnies!

That look is great and I adopted this for autumn, but in winter I'd be freezing! I do feel the cold though! So for me, it's skinnies, thick socks and chunky boots until at least March!

All kinds of denim styles are around at the moment, I love it.

I am also doing cropped straight/tapered with cropped jeans or cords. I feel the cold but with a warm pair of boots and long socks so there’s no gap it’s been fine even in the snow and I feel more modern. But that’s partly because I’m an inverted triangle and can do with some balancing out.

I have short legs/long torso so struggle generally with balancing my proportions, so going back to flared/bootcut suits me better. Having said that, I've just ordered a pair of skinnies and a pair if bootcuts so will decide when they arrive what to do. I can't seem to get the hang of straight leg jeans without making my short legs even shorter (I'm 5'6" but my legs are about 29/30", depending on the cut. Cropped jeans and boots never look right)

I've been doing straight jeans and lace up ankle boots or trainers for years now, but I need thermals underneath to stay warm.

I don't think skinnies have completely gone away yet. They are definitely warmer and better for wet weather than bootcut which drag in puddles

@Thisismynewname123 I have this problem too! I’m 5’5 with 27 inch legs but can make cropped work if the rise is high enough and the boots are built up (not necessarily a massive heel as I’ve given up on them). But oftentimes cropped end up being full length on me.

I think without a substantial heel, flared make my legs look even shorter, though they do balance out my upper half and I love the look.

I can touch my toes very easily 😂 but so wish I had short torso/long legs.

I dont do what's in or out, so i had no idea skinnies were out.

Skinnies are best for this weather and would not be unreasonable at all for donning a pair
