Bag for black tie wedding

Ok so I have a gold maxi dress to wear to a black tie wedding at a v posh location. I think I'm wearing black shoes but I do not have a bag.

I don't have a load of money to spend but I want something that will look elegant but not too boring... do I have to get black?

I prefer bags with a strap so I don't have to hold it the whole time but will this just look frumpy? I have an issue with bags with metal chain straps because I find they often catch my clothes somehow or other.

Anyone got any links or pics they could suggest, I'm just not really sure what to look for other than something really dull!

Go onto amazon, there's so many designer look bags that are really cheap - mine has a shoulder strap that fits into the bag when you prefer a clutch.

Charity shops will have loads of evening bags. I've got one with a kind of wrist strap , one with a proper leather strap and many clutch bags as well as the dreaded chain link ones

I'd go for a beaded clutch or plain black in fabric rather than leather - velvet for instance.

I have an irredesant Biba clutch which is brilliant with almost any outfit. It's a couple of years old and I can't see it online. I'll post a pic shortly you might find one on EBay or Vinted (if you like it)

Most evening bags do seem to have chain straps. They usually get tangled in my hair rather than clothes.

How about something like this leather bag from Zara. Quite unusual and while not specifically an evening bag it is dressy. I think the burgundy would look good with a gold dress but it comes in a few other colours

Ok good call - texture like velvet or feathers good idea. Don't really like beads. Maybe look for a wrist strap because yes I don't know how to avoid the deadly chain strap. I'll check out some charity shops if I can get to any
