Meh

MalcolmTuckersBollockingface · 14/12/2022 19:51

No, from me. Quality has nosedived, recently, and seem to take A LOT longer to break in than they see to.

moggerhanger · 14/12/2022 19:51

Solovair are only a little bit more expensive and are made in the UK. I've recently bought some Dealer boots and they haven't required breaking in at all - amazingly comfortable.

PumpkinGhoul · 14/12/2022 19:55

I had solovair's I just recently sold them as I wasn't wearing them a great deal and yes whilst I will say they are lovely I just personally prefer Dr martens I've got a made in England 1406 boots the molly platform boots and the Audrick chelsea boots which are a dream as the leather is soft so not blisters no breaking in.

It just comes down to personal preference.

KirstenBlest · 14/12/2022 19:58

I love my dealer boots too @moggerhanger . I looked for second hand ones out of season.

MalcolmTuckersBollockingface · 14/12/2022 20:02

I had a quick look at the Solovair website. They carried a more limited range, the last time I checked them out, and I am impressed with the range they now carry. Solovair seem to go for the more classic aesthetic so depends why you are drawn to DMs. I guess.

swimmingincustard · 14/12/2022 20:05

Yes. I have both pascal and leonore, neither needed breaking it. I'm not sure I'm the height of fashion though.

Annabel073 · 14/12/2022 20:41

No

primeoflife · 14/12/2022 22:00

I've a traditional pair and they needed no breaking in. They are my most comfortable shoes! I love them

RunLolaRun102 · 14/12/2022 22:02

They don’t need breaking in if you have narrow feet but yes I do agree that the soft leather ones are divine. So comfy.

QueenAstrid · 14/12/2022 22:05

I love mine. They look great with anything and I wear them all the time. They still look mint after 3 years so are well worth the money imo.

herbaltea21 · 14/12/2022 22:07

I bought some at the start of the year and they are by far the best boots I've ever owned.
So durable, comfy, weatherproof and stylish. I literally love them and wear them all the time 🙈
I didn't need to break them in, they never rubbed or anything! They literally have been perfect!

GalaxyStars · 14/12/2022 22:11

It's a no from me. I have a pair but they won't wear in (after many attempts). I used to love DMs as a teen but now in my 40s, I wish I'd saved my money.

dropthevipers · 14/12/2022 22:46

No.had them for twenty years for work (cabinet maker-all day on my feet). They were great and my go to shoes. Quality in the last few years has dived head first off a cliff, nothing like they were. Wear timberland these days, very good, like DM's used to be.

healthadvice123 · 14/12/2022 22:47

Im still in shock they come back on fashion, personally waiting for kickers fo come back in

Penguinsaregreat · 14/12/2022 22:50

Yes.
Aren’t there 2 types?
The British made ones are the comfortable ones. I heard the uncomfortable ones are like a sub division ( not sure if that is the correct term) and made abroad.
Make sure you get the better made ones which will be expensive.

KLWil · 14/12/2022 22:58

I have been wearing them for 2 decades.. I have at least 30 pairs and would definitely recommend them!

If you want the British made ones just get some Solovairs. And they are cheaper.

Did kickers ever go out? All mine have had them as school shoes and the oldest is 27 and the youngest 9

Chrispackhamspoodle · 15/12/2022 16:20

I have Docs and Solovair. My docs have split across the top and were painful to break in.Solovair were comfortable from the start and I can tell will last me for many years. If you do get Docs my daughter wore silicone heel protectors from amazon with the DM shoes and got no blisters at all.

CoconutAmericano · 15/12/2022 17:34

God no! Instruments of torture and quality is not what it used to be so i cant even justify the pain.

LlynTegid · 15/12/2022 17:58

If you want to wear that style of footwear, then yes.

ohidoliketobe · 15/12/2022 18:04

I have a pair of lace up pascals (softer leather) and leonora (faux fur lined chelsea), I'm very sensitive to uncomfortable shoes and they were great. Little tight over the front of the foot where the laces are but no blisters
