Had first Botox treatment - see no difference

Hi all,
I had my first Botox treatment (forehead and frown line) on Wednesday. So far I see absolutely no difference at all. I realize full results won’t be visible until 2-3 weeks after the treatment (and they do „top up“ for free if not satisfied at that point), but I would have hoped to see a slight improvement in my forehead lines by now? Picture shows my forehead when static. I’m feeling a little miffed! Are these too deep to be affected by Botox already?
For info, I am 40 and this was a „Baby Botox“ so they went very low on the dose. Not sure quite how low though.
Thanks

It takes me well over a week, pretty much 10 days until I notice. Hang in there.

PeppaPigster · 11/12/2022 18:38

Oh good to know!! Thank you!

It took about a week for mine to restrict movement, but I just had my '11s' and laughter lines done. Don't panic just wait a few more days. Better to go in gradual than be too obvious.

Kitcaterpillar · 11/12/2022 18:39

Surely they explained all this to you? And also that you're unlikely to see those lines disappear on first treatment?

PeppaPigster · 11/12/2022 18:41

@Kitcaterpillar surely if they would have explained all of this to me I would not be asking on here!

Thanks @mothtoaflame - I am probably being too impatient!

It takes at least a week. They should have told you that. Always go to a properly qualified person, not someone who did a half day course. (Not saying you did, it's just strange they didn't tell you what to expect)

trailrunner85 · 11/12/2022 18:44

Don't panic yet - usually takes at least a week on me.

NoelNoNoel · 11/12/2022 18:46

It takes about 10 days for the magic to happen.

PeppaPigster · 11/12/2022 18:47

@Wakk thank you - and trust me, I did certainly not go to someone who trained for half a day! Believe me that!
I was told full results visible after 2-3 weeks, but things starting to change slowly after about 3 days! Seems like the consensus on here is that that’s more the case after about 1 week though!

Wednesday is a bit soon. I had a weird tingling feeling the first time on the day it kicked in.

PeppaPigster · 11/12/2022 18:51

@AnnaMagnani @NoelNoNoel @trailrunner85 thank you 🤞🏼

It does take a while movement to restrict. But existing lines that are there when you are relaxed will take a while reduce.

Depending how deep they are it could take a few treatments and they may not disappear completely.

Itsthewhitehat · 11/12/2022 18:54

Oh and also, as you get the top up, go back for it if you see very little. Some people need a little more or a little less. I, imagine it’s very difficult to know that at the first treatment.

My first time I had to go back for my 11s topping up. After that I didn’t, because she knew how much to use in that area.

PeppaPigster · 11/12/2022 18:56

@Itsthewhitehat amazing, thanks! That’s helpful feedback! Yeah, I wouldn’t expect/imagine the forehead lines to disappear completely sadly! Been putting it off for too long for that! But definitely hoping to make them less noticeable!

jumping on this thread a bit but does anyone have any photos of before and after on forehead and 11s?? And what even happens? How do lines “go away” or “lessen”? Do you not need filler to get rid of a line? I kinda though Botox froze the area so it couldn’t get worse rather than got rid of any pre existing lines?

NoelNoNoel · 11/12/2022 19:27

I can’t find a before photo but this is my 53 year old forehead 4 and a half to 5 months after botox. I get it done every 6 months.

That’s kind of right. But not quite.

The wrinkles are cause by how the skin moves along with the muscle movement.

It freezes the muscles that cause the wrinkles. By not using the muscles for long periods, the line in the skin lessens as the skin isn’t being pushed into the position that causes the line. So fine lines reduce/ disappear. Deep lines reduce. If the are very deep they may need fillers to try and get rid of completely.

Oh thank you that’s a real help! Is there a database where you can see whether a doctor is a good administrator? Like how do people know who’s trustworthy and who isn’t? I don’t want to go to someone who’s not a trained doctor but also don’t know what makes a good doc in this area?!

I also once read that necrotising skin complications were more common with elevenses than anywhere else and it really freaked me right out. Does anyone on here have a bad experience? I’m assuming that as millions of people get Botox for all kinds of reasons every year it can’t be too often reactions occur but I’m all freaked out.

Alopeciabop · 11/12/2022 19:54

Thank you for sharing! Looks like a lovely smooth forehead. Mine started wrinkling up super young so I’m really worried to let it go any further!

I'd probably be questioning the establishment and the aesthetician and the quality of their 'botox' if they hadn't provided you with all thus info during the consultation

NoelNoNoel · 11/12/2022 19:59

I go to a dermatologist at a private hospital for my skin cancer who also runs a clinic for Botox and fillers. I trust him 100%, he’s literally saved my life and my face doesn’t look too bad either.

If you don't know someone who can give you a recommendation then have a look at the tweakments guide online.

You want someone with medical qualifications. There are some great nurse subscribers out there but if you want to know what makes a good doctor it's just that - an actual doctor. Ask!

Eatentoomanyroses · 11/12/2022 21:27

I’d give it a few more days. Mine kicks in days 5/6 and continues kicking in for the two weeks. That said what toxin did they use? Only proper Allergan Botox works on me. Dysport did nothing at all
