Face / hair is a mess…

I feel like a mess and I’m hoping someone can advise please! I’m 32, two under 5s and work full time so not the most rested.

I’ve got lines that are visible when resting, both across my forehead and from my nose to the corners of my mouth. I’ve also got seborrheic dermatitis on my hairline and scalp; I’ve used tar shampoo with some effect, and a steroid cream on the facial skin, but it’s not fixed. In addition I’ve got hair loss along the hairline and parting, which is really upsetting me.

Altogether, this is really getting me down, but I find the advice on products confusing… can anyone break down an effective routine, or suggest a miracle cure please??

What condition is the steroid cream treating?

What’s your skincare routine?

I think the dermatitis- maybe I’ve got it wrong, I’ll check the label, might be hydrocortisone?

I basically don’t have one, I’m ashamed to say! I wash my face in the morning with a Simple face wash, and I use a no7 moisturiser after that and ahead of very minimal make up. I exfoliate with a St Ives scrub once a week, and use a cleansing wash (the type you use with a hot flannel) sporadically…. And I wear SPF in the summer.

I think various vit C etc things could help, but I struggle to make sense of it all! I had something from The Ordinary at one point, would love to develop a proper routine that makes me actually look better…

I would stop the physical exfoliant that won't be doing any favours.

Oat Milk by Inky List is a nice calm Cleanser.

La Roche Posay circablast is a soothing moisturiser.

I'd be careful to add new products until your skin calms down.

I’m not sure how to get it to calm down, this is part of the issue. It’s like dandruff but on my hairline, and sometimes coming a little further down (2-3cm) my forehead. The main issues are that and very visible nasolabial lines… Can any products help?

You could submit a picture to Dermatica and start with Tret but do make sure your moisturiser is super rich.

For the love of God, ditch the St Ives, it is notoriously bad for inflammatory or sensitive skin conditions. It also contains microbeads.

If you need to exfoliate, use a chemical one.

Perfect- thanks, that’s the sort of tip I’m looking for!
