Black nail polish?

Can anyone recommend a decent nail varnish in black? It's for DD who likes to paint her nails but she has only ever had a cheap brand which chips all the time.

tbh they all chip badly. Could you get her a gel kit with lamp for Christmas?

Dogsinthecradle · 08/12/2022 18:45

I use Wilkos own brand
it does chip after a while but it’s the best polish I’ve found

lookersnoopy · 08/12/2022 21:24

Thanks, it's just a stocking filler idea, a lamp etc would be too much for her to manage too!

Not near Wilko either, I'm in Scotland! I may have a look at their website though and see if there is anything else to make it worth doing an online order.

Could you get a posh top coat as well? Something clear made to lock it in, I’m sure I used to have something like that.

lookersnoopy · 08/12/2022 21:31

Oh yes I didn't think of that!

Any recommendations?

(You can tell I'm not familiar with these things) Blush

I used to have one which looked and lasted a bit like gel but was just normal nail polish. I also had it in black. Will try and find it. Think it was just a normal high street brand

DialsMavis · 08/12/2022 21:36

Barry M, gel style is good

Stevie6 · 08/12/2022 21:37

My DS has the Essie one, think he got it in Superdrug

QueenAstrid · 08/12/2022 21:38

Essie gel couture is brilliant. It lasts 7-10 days on my nails with no chips if I use a base and top coat.

Not all nail varnish chips badly. Try OPI with their infinite shine base coat and top coat and you'll get 5-7 days out of it

Think it was this one;

You need the top coat as well iirc

LadyOfTheCanyon · 09/12/2022 05:54

OPI Lincoln Park After Dark is a gorgeous deep purpley black and nicer against my skin than pure black which can look a bit harsh.

Spliffle · 09/12/2022 06:24

How about another stocking filler? A black sharpie pen to colour in the chipped bits... Grin

Aerish · 09/12/2022 06:29

I agree with pp. Opi Lincoln park is a gorgeous shade, I use that and Little Black Dress with rapid dry top coat and the colour stays on a week.

NoDairyNoProblem · 09/12/2022 06:32

Barry M Gelly polish with the plump topcoat. I am always typing or cleaning without gloves and get 7/10 days often.

Also came on the say Barry M Gelly.

I found OPI to be very disappointing.

Get a good top coat and then it can be used to make all her nail varnishes last longer. I use seche vite, it dries really quickly and adds a good 2-3 days to my nail varnish.

Nails inc do a gel style polish, and their top coat is great too
