If you are petite and over 45, where do you buy your clothes!?

I despair. I wanted to buy a couple of new things to add to my wardrobe as I don’t seem to have many winter clothes. I wanted a winter dress and maybe a skirt. But I just can’t find anything! Problem is that I am late 40s and short and skinny. Everything seems incredibly oversized at the moment. Anything not oversized is very skimpy so not for me. Nothing in between. I am happy to pay a bit more for something good quality that will make me feel amazing but alas have not found anything…

I’m similar age to you, 5’ 2 def not skinny but size 8. I spend a ridiculous fair chunk on clothes and expect things to last and the following may or may not fit with your budget or style but recently I’ve been going to:

Sezane - French so tends to smaller sizing though knits are generous.
Wyse (the founder is slim and petite and shows the clothes on her insta) ££ but some lovely things.
Me+Em - the slim cropped trousers are great, some interesting knits and the shorter dresses often work well on me.

Reiss do petite now but the quality is not what it used to be esp for the money.

You could also look at French brands like Sandro / Maje but they have become v v expensive since Brexit.

I'm 5'3 and find Boden petite stuff the ideal fit lengthwise, which is unusual for me.

I use Mint Velvet over sized jumpers as dresses. Shop for mini skirts and dresses in normal size. Not so mini on me. Branded kids items from Next they go up to age 16. Superdry small sizes. Discovered their size 6 coats. Hobbs.

Boden, Next, Gap, even Lipsey petite. Tbh I rarely find something I really like that fits.

No idea how I'll find a nice ski jacket.

5’2” size 10
had some dresses from Dorothy Perkins - is that still going online?
and Next
white stuff for straight shortish skirts - they’d be much too short for me if I was average height.
short jeggings M&S
next trousers/don’t suit my proportions/build (curvy hips)

Vinted and Vestaire - Pre- loved or new surplus stock items using the search feature for the expensive brands listed above.

For more long lasting things I've bought Boden and Hobbs and find their petite sizing good

Bewitched005 · 06/12/2022 21:56

I'm short but unfortunately not skinny. I would like to be.
I like House of Bruar clothes. Pricey but good quality.

Thanks very much for all the suggestions.
I might give Sezane a go. I get a lot of basics from Uniqlo but they never have anything interesting. I used to get a few sale items from Sandro but yes, they have gone up in price and also I think they have changed a bit and are now targeting an even younger look.
