Best trainer type things for winter?

I miss wearing trainers in winter and when walking a lot prefer something softer than my boots. I like converse, superga and other plimsol type shoes so was wondering are there any you'd recommend for keeping warm?
I was going to buy some grey converse but my DP says his feel too thin now and the cold really comes through on the sole of the foot.

I'm not interested in sports trainers so are there any like the above that might suit? I have a couple of pairs of trousers that really work best with converse....I dare say a good wool sock wouldn't help?
Obviously I wouldn't be wearing them in a tempest or soaking rain.

All birds merino sneakers. I have several pairs and love them!

How about leather converse?

I got Burgundy leather furry topped low converse off vinted and they are nice and warm. Sole is thicker than my other converse

You need something like a flatform if you don't want the cold to come through.

I agree that thick soles to insulate your feet from the pavement are key. FitFlop Rally aren't cool but they are effective.

Thank you.
What about high top converse with fluffy thermal insoles?
I don't like shoes with furry linings that I can't remove. The platforms sound ok but a bit too trendy for me.

I wear leather puma trainers and still without socks and feet are super warm. So try leather rather than canvas.

Or wear canvas shoes with wool socks.
