Recommend me some makeup brushes.

I need some new makeup brushes. I don't need a set, as I don't use a lot.

I need:

Blusher
Bronzer
Eyeliner to apply gel liner
Concealer

I just bought a dual end bow brush from Benefit.

I looked at what I thought was good quality e.g. Chanel, Dior but I think I may just be paying for the name. I don't want wood as they don't seem to wash well. I want good quality, that do a good job. I prefer hair, or something that works like that. I don't like silicone.

Any recommendations?

I have real techniques brushes which aren't in the price point you're mentioning and I think they're great. They've lasted really well too - some of mine must be 10 years old.

Bobbi brown brushes are nice
i have a few Chanel ones too.
lara Faye also really nice and I use the cleaning stuff for all my brushes
however real techniques are great, reasonably priced and last well. Lots of choice.

Thx Medicated,

That's great, I'll check them out. I am looking for great brushes, not necessarily expensive ones. I'm falling into the trap of £££ must mean great quality.

Real techniques are good and last ages. Some of my Chanel brushes are around 10 years old. Bobbi brown has great brushes.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 03/12/2022 22:13

AYU brushes ,they're fantastic.

Niftythrifter · 03/12/2022 22:37

Second Real Techniques. It could end up cheaper buying a set OP than individually. Superdrug and Boots both have them in the Christmas gift ranges.

BeaLola · 03/12/2022 23:45

Real Techniques or Bobbi Brown

LadyOfTheCanyon · 04/12/2022 06:05

I've found ecotools to be very good. Can get in boots. Often sets in TKMaxx.

More expensive ones that I've liked - Laura Mercier and Bobbi brown.

If you want natural hair look at Rephr.

If you want synthetic i find zoeva vegan set works nicely.

Urban decay do a nice concealer brush

Or MAC

I've got a real techniques one I use for blush and tbh once I moved to some of the others I found I wasn't picking it up as much as it just didn't perform as well and felt a bit almost scratchy

TattiePants · 04/12/2022 15:55

I mainly use a combination of Real Techniques and MAC. I’ve just bought a Beauty Pie concealer brush which is excellent.

Domino45 · 04/12/2022 17:04

The brushes by Zoeva are fab, but the price has kept up slightly. But not to the price of higher end ones like MAC

Just brought some Vieve brushes in Black Friday but haven’t used them yet to know if they are worth the price

Rare Beauty have some nice brushes but not many in the range

QueenWenceslas · 04/12/2022 17:07

Hands down the best ones I’ve ever had are Sephoras own brand. I’ve got a blusher brush I bought in Paris ten years ago and it’s still perfect. They have a U.K. website now.

I second AYU
Although I'm Irish, even if I wasn't I'd still recommend them!

I particularly love the foundation brush, but all of the ones I've got (concealer, mini buffer and 2 eye shadow ones) are just brilliant.

The makeup is fab too - concealer and cream blush are excellent and I have the set of cream stick eyeshadows which I absolutely love.

I bought the mini travel set in the sale and also the eyeliner which hasn't arrived yet so can't wait for that. The brushes are excellent aren't they? I've used the foundation brush for about 2 years if not more and still going strong!

Love it! I bought two lip kits as Christmas gifts but really want to keep one for myself Grin

sashh · 05/12/2022 10:49

I'd head for an art shop, professional make up artists often use paint brushes, I don't mean the plastic ones children use.

The eyeliner arrived today ,can't wait to try it out tomorrow. The postage really puts me off though plus the exchange converter charge. They really need to do free p and p all the time like they did on black Friday, I'd order more!

CactusPeach · 19/12/2022 16:00

I like Real Techniques, Zoeva & Mac brushes. In particular Mac 266 for gel eyeliner, Zoeva 127 or Mac 168 for blusher and Zoeva 105 for bronzer, it’s actually a highlighter brush.

Lurkingshark · 19/12/2022 19:11

Mac, eco tools and the beauty pie concealer one mentioned above. I’ve not found the holy grail eyeshadow brush.

my mac ones are 10 years old but started to shed. That was a Christmas set, I think in the sale.

sparkiesparkle · 19/12/2022 23:16

I came on to say Bobbi Brown

Nat6999 · 19/12/2022 23:27

Can anyone recommend a good lip brush? I had the Clinique retracting one but have lost it.

Ocrumbs · 20/12/2022 06:35

Boots no 7 retractable one

ThistleSifter · 20/12/2022 13:36

I have Chanel brushes and they’re very good - no shedding etc. the branding has rubbed off a lot over time though on the non-retractable ones I have such as powder and blush (& I bought them all from Boots or direct from Chanel, so are genuine).
