Black nail vanish

I rarely paint my nails, but have painted them black with a gold ring finger. Not sure I'm convinced by them. Maybe they look too much like my 15 year old scruffy fingers.

Do adults wear black? Going out at the weekend for a Christmas drink.

Mine are dark purple currently but sometimes I have black with little sparkles, I like them

Adults wear black and it's a fab colour, however I'm not a fan of the one different coloured nail.

A well done black mani on short, squared nails is always chic.

The whole one nail in a different colour, not so much.

Rather like the different colour nail look. Although not sure the bottle of Rimmel 60 second polish can be classed as a mani.

May rethink in the morning light.

I’ve currently got black with a sort of glittery diagonal stripe. I’m a fan of straight up black too though

I think black can look good with certain things. A different coloured ring finger can send a certain message to those in the know 🌈.

Erm what? I currently have red with gold glitter on ring fingers. What message am I sending??!

I personally don’t wear black nails as I think it’s a bit goth like but you’ve now got me thinking along these lines with my next gel nails!

Agreed with no different single colour nails but I do have a sort of shimmery glittery maroon with white stars and gold with gold diamantés on one side of the base of the nail alternating right now which I love. I normally hate gold and diamanté but they look very pretty!

Yes to black nail polish, but short, neatly done nails and immaculate application of polish.

That means professionally done for me as I’m not neat enough myself.

I’ve never heard of the ring finger thing @StarlightLady that’s interesting.

It was ‘in’ a few years ago for gel manicures. I wonder if that threw off the messaging meaning - it was so mainstream and popular.

Dont mind being known as bi. Thinking I may lose the black though. Not sure neat enough. It's OK, but it does show up any imperfections.

Yeah I think it's hard to do neat black nails at home. Can easily end up a bit 6th form goth.

I also think the nail polish as signifier of sexuality is extremely niche. Love the idea that all the over 50 receptionists and admins at my work with their glittery acrylics and accent nails are secretly letting everyone know they're bi though 🤣

I love black nails but then I am a bit goth! I think the polish has to come off as soon as it starts getting tatty though, not as forgiving as other colours.

My favourite nails are very very dark and almost black but not quite - eg OPI Lincoln Park After Dark (v dark purple) and Essie Wicked (vvv dark crimson / rouge noir). Very chic on short nails but as a pp said your application has to be immaculate.

I’m wearing black nail varnish at the moment.

I love black nail varnish, love matt black even more, my nails are currently black on one hand and dark forest green on the other.
