Bought this dress on Vinted, hoping to wear it to my Christmas party.

Not sure how I feel in it. Certainly not used to big shoulders!

I bought these boots for another event and was hoping I could get away with wearing them with whatever dress I end up with, instead of having to buy more shoes.

Anyway, overall thoughts please?

I've tucked it up in the last photo and think it looks better slightly shorter, but I'm not sure the material will allow for it being taken up.

Thanks.

I'm no style guru but it looks fantastic to me

LeandraDear · 29/11/2022 23:19

It looks great and I see what you are saying about it slightly shorter but it's not a big deal. What is it they say ? It will ride up with wear 😂

swampything · 30/11/2022 07:47

Thanks. I don't love it, and is a bit scratchy, but I feel like it might have to do.

You look fabulous in it.

myfatisgettingfatter · 30/11/2022 07:58

Love it ! Enjoy the party

DuncanBiscuits · 30/11/2022 07:59

You look great!

Should I go for different shoes? I have dark green pointy stilettos. Not sure if that's 80's overkill.

I might try it with black opaque tights or even sheer black if worried you’d be too hot. The reason it looks better slightly shorter is because it makes your legs look longer. The boots, while looking cool, cut off your legs, having tights the same colour would elongate them more. You could also add a necklace eg a gold chunky chain to soften the shoulders.

swampything · 30/11/2022 12:02

Yes, I'll try with opaques later, and also try my green shoes, I think.

Fabulous! And I like it with the boots and bare legs - it looks devil-may-care, rather than … careful. Don’t add too many sparkly accessories - the dress is enough.

(Nb get yourself an old fashioned slip from M&S to protect yourself from some of the scratchiness! Or alternatively a thin skin tight camisole and bike shorts from somewhere like Skims - though that combination might be rather too warm.)

KirstenBlest · 30/11/2022 12:21

Would look great with opaque tights.
Without them, you are chopped into a dress, legs, shoes.

RuthW · 30/11/2022 12:24

Will look lovely with opaque tights

LadyOfTheCanyon · 30/11/2022 12:51

You've got a cracking figure, you look amazing!

I'm not so keen on the boots to be honest ( with the dress - nothing wrong with them per se!) I think they are fine if you're wearing opaques to lengthen the leg but the effect with bare legs looks a bit stumpy.

FunnyTalks · 30/11/2022 13:55

I love it! It's so dramatic, and is festive without sacrificing coolness. And it looks fabulous on you. Please tell me the brand?

Outofnowhere · 30/11/2022 13:58

I really like it. The bare legs and short boots look great. I haven’t got the legs for that myself any more but I tried similar boots with a midi dress and that’s what I’m wearing to my Christmas do!

DeFacto · 30/11/2022 16:23

I love the dress, it lioks great, I wouldn't wear it with ankle boots though.

Maybe sheer tights and a disco sandal, channel the 80's vibe!

Uch, don't say this! I've spent all day pining for a pair of Esska Venice which I really can't justify buying 😭

Esska shoes are so comfy though!

EllaPaella · 30/11/2022 18:17

It's a lovely dress and suits you but agree the boots aren't quite right with it. Heeled shoe/sandals would finish it off perfectly.
