As in previous years, this is a thread for all those opening beauty advent calendars not covered by specific threads, though happy for any to be posted here too. We’d also love to hear about other non-beauty calendars.

Only one ask please, do not disclose contents of calendars before 7am on the relevant day.

I’ll be opening the Liberty and Fortnum and Mason calendars. Possibly also Latest in Beauty, assuming it arrives on time.

Only two sleeps to go - looking forward to it!

I got Laura Mercier setting powder this morning in JL and a Molton Brown bath & shower gel in Fenwick's.

Not a great day for either tbh. I already have a LM powder from a previous calendar that I have barely used so Fenwick's slightly edges it as at least I will use the shower gel.

Degusta box nuts also, LinB Olpalex 3 - not a fan of this if anyone wants a swap? Debenhams is a bluring primer - going to read some reviews and most likely donate as happy with the primer I use and can’t imagine it’s better than Laura Mercier. Smiggle beauty for kids is a really cute peel off nail varnish….

CountryCob · 02/12/2022 09:00

I think day 2 is often a tame day in the advent world….

Roundaboot · 02/12/2022 09:11

I'm looking forward to trying the Degustabox nuts with a G&T later - big fan of rosemary

L’Occitane Precious Crème this morning. I’m saving that, the almond shower oil and whatever tomorrow’s is for getting ready for a party tomorrow night. The AC box is so beautiful it’s a treat to wake up to it by my bed before even opening it!

Loving this mornings treat! I love the Immortelle range, but never buy it as it's so expensive!
I know the box is so beautiful isn't it 😊

Couperi · 02/12/2022 09:31

Today's haul. Had this lip balm in H&B before, find it terrible. The nuts I'm intrigued by.

Selfridges had a hair oil that looks interesting. I will try that tonight.

LookdeepintotheAdvent · 02/12/2022 09:49

Degustabox nuts and balls from day 1&2 - should we be scared about what's coming tomorrow?? 😂

Clinique good today - a lash serum for my menopausal, falling out eyelashes. Hopefully it'll help.

@bigdecisionstomake the Nuxe oil is great for massaging into rough elbows and I'm going to be using it on a couple of scars.

QueefofSheena · 02/12/2022 10:42

Glossybox had a mini make up brush. Seems to be worth about £7 at LF website. I’m always happy with a brush.

I can’t afford any of them so I love these threads.
wpuld you say the highest cost goes alongside the quality and joy of them?or do some labels just get to have higher prices for being who they are?
what is the best?
would people mind posting pictures if they feel that’s ok.

kateandme · 02/12/2022 11:20

This is the diy one I snook in and made for my mum.sorry about the shitty picture.

My photo attached. The Sunday Riley is from CB and the marzipan from Anton Berg.

I'm with you in loving seeing what others get too.

I got a perfume sample in the Nuxe calendar...one spray and I was in love! Swiftly spent £32 on a full bottle.

Pinenu · 02/12/2022 11:51

Rubbish lip balm from H&B and an ok lip balm from body shop.

I also have LiB and Selfridges but I’ve hidden them away to use for jadvent (LiB) and next December (Selfridges). Reeeeeaaaaaally difficult to keep my mitts off them after todays drawers of disappointment.

Pinenu, for your Selfridges, I’d just check if there are any products best used a bit sooner (for instance, some vit c products don’t have a long shelf life). I can let you know if I see anything as I unbox mine if you like?

Pinenu · 02/12/2022 12:22

Thank you @Zoetrope1 I totally forgot to do that with Selfridges. I’ll ask my partner to go through it for me.

I know H&B has one with an expiration date in February 2023 so thanks for the heads up.

Retailqueenie · 02/12/2022 12:25

Next day 1 - mac lipstick in twig
Next day 2 - Elemis moisture surge

Both fab, interesting it’s the same as ASOS so far… I debated between the two as ASOS was so good last year but the NEXT one had more in it I’d use this year.. 😍

Zoetrope1 · 02/12/2022 12:41

A little late but I’ve started a Selfridges thread. I quite like documenting as I inbox and conscious of putting spoilers in here for those waiting to unbox!

bigdecisionstomake · 02/12/2022 06:36

@AnnieSnap @LookdeepintotheAdvent Please could I ask how you use the Nuxe oil? I've got two now, one from the M&S advent calendar last year and one from a GWP and I don't know what to do with them/how to use them? They're sitting in my stash drawer looking forlornly at me every time I go in there.

They are ‘dry oils’, so light enough to use anywhere. On the body (my preference, especially my legs), the face and even the hair if it needs settling down, or it’s very dry.

bigdecisionstomake · 02/12/2022 14:05

Thanks everyone for your answers about the Nuxe Oil. I'm going to be brave and get one out and give it a go!

I’ve got the NUXE calender too. I’m a bit disappointed in the tiny sample spray. Would it have killed them to put a small bottle in there?

CeeCeeDeeBee · 02/12/2022 14:44

So my friend also has HN and commented that she had a voucher. My box didn't have one... but that's because husband put it back in the wrong drawer when he checked it!! So I also have a voucher for a La Mer facial!

Mavisisnotmyname · 02/12/2022 16:10

Quite happy with the 2. In Debenhams, Revolution Pro Blur Stick universal primer, tested it on the back of my wrinkled hand and was impressed!

CountryCob · 02/12/2022 16:35

I read reviews of the primer and am going to try it tomorrow, that is why I really like advents as wouldn’t normally change anything and quite capable of walking round doing same stuff as did 29 years ago. Nuts going down well here
