As in previous years, this is a thread for all those opening beauty advent calendars not covered by specific threads, though happy for any to be posted here too. We’d also love to hear about other non-beauty calendars.

Only one ask please, do not disclose contents of calendars before 7am on the relevant day.

I’ll be opening the Liberty and Fortnum and Mason calendars. Possibly also Latest in Beauty, assuming it arrives on time.

Only two sleeps to go - looking forward to it!

@Couperi I really like Muesli, and Dorset cereals in particular. That would be a good day for me!

Looks like a nice haul @AprilLady.

Murad exfoliating cleanser in JL today. Small size which is good as it’s not something I can use every day I don’t think.

Stokey · 11/12/2022 09:45

Would have preferred a different Murad product in JL as they already gave us ExfoliKate.

Fenwick's is a 10ml Verso Super C serum. I think I've had this before and it's not a standout product for me - I love the Medik8 C-Tetra serum - but I'll use it.

Ponks · 11/12/2022 10:02

No7 calendar day 11 is a Protect and Perfect hand cream, not tried this before and on first use it seem quite nice. I use hand cream a lot so pleased with this.

JustWhatIAlwaysWanted · 11/12/2022 10:23

Today in Next is Elemis Pro Collagen Marine Cream 15ml. Will use!

Nice!

Body shop - A bubble bomb
H&B - so eco brow brush duo
Selfridges - Hum glow gummies and Vida Glow natural marine collagen x 6

Body Shop is really going to have to up its game. All but one product so far has been miniature and most under £6.

AprilLady · 11/12/2022 13:16

@Pinenu I think a lot of the single brand calendars are not great value compared with the multi-brand ones, unfortunately.

From @Ponks posts, No. 7 seems one of the better ones, both in terms of sizes and product range.

@Stokey I’ve tried a few Verso products, and generally don’t rate the brand. I think it’s a little like Avant - fairly basic products in fairly basic packaging with inflated RRPs which mean they boost the supposed “value” of calendars and beauty boxes. But unlike Avant it does seemed to be stocked by most of the big beauty retailers, so most have some credibility.

I'm sure I'll find a home for it!

Today's LiB Bamford pillow spray I've never tried so will give it a go tonight. Pink Drink in my homemade one will be a new product to me too.

LookdeepintotheAdvent · 11/12/2022 14:51

@Pinenu I think you'll be pleased with what's coming up in the Body Shop calendar😉

I went through it all before giving to DD as there were products she definitely wouldn't have wanted (which i replaced with chocolates etc) but quite a few things were full size!

Pinenu · 11/12/2022 15:10

That’s good to know, thank you @LookdeepintotheAdvent

Please can you replace everything I don’t want in life with chocolates 😂 what a wonderful way to live!

I agree with the comments about the no7 advent calendar, there has been a good selection so far, my main gripe has been it’s been lacking in mixing it’s selection.

There has nothing that I’ve wanted to swap/give away a on far.

I’ve been happy with sons of the things in the Debenhams calendar but the setting spray was disappointing, it was tiny. I’m glad I didn’t pay full price for it.

Absolutely!! The efforts I went to for DD to ensure there were no drawers of disappointment 😂

Clinique today was a hand cream. It's lovely but I can't get too used to it as it's ££ for the full size. I usually get hand cream from Lidl!!

CeeCeeDeeBee · 12/12/2022 07:10

Two perfumes today in HN: Juliette has a gun and Mamfu

Chocachocaholic · 12/12/2022 07:27

I've been away over the weekend so catching up now on my Elle calendar.
Friday - 5ml sample size of revive eye masque. I'm sure it's a lovely product and full size it's £150 so way out of my price range to buy if I liked it but still 5ml is just not enough imo to have a good try of the product
Saturday - bare minerals full size bronzer. Really nice colour. Super happy with that and perfect for winter as it's more subtle
Sunday - u beauty resurfacing compound. Never heard of this before but a quick google showed me the 15ml in Harvey nics was £85 so very happy with this. Will look forward to trying and hope I don't like it as it's quite expensive 🤣
Today - by Terry Baumé de rose lip care pot like all byterry products the pot is very lovely and I love their products. It is just a lip balm though. Will be nice to have in my bag when out and about though

Half way through today so far I'm impressed overall. There have been a couple of disappointing product sizes but can't fault the a dual products in it though. Looking forward to trying them all

Peridot1 · 12/12/2022 07:34

Aqua de Parma shower gel and perfume today in JL. Very nice.

AprilLady · 12/12/2022 07:41

Day 12:

F&M: As expected, the conditioner to go with yesterday’s shampoo. Will get used.

Liberty: Arometherapy associates rollerball in a Liberty only scent “clear mind”. I’m never entirely sure how to use these - are they meant to be used instead of perfume?

LiB: 75ml pot of Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum cream. Very happy with this. It’s not new or exciting, but it is one of my favourite body creams. I actually like the 75ml size too as it’s big enough to get quite a few uses but not so big you’re bored with it before it’s done.
