Luxury skin care

I’ve been eyeing the Elemis Christmas balm for a Christmas present for myself. Can anyone recommend any other luxury skin care or any other Elemis products. Also if you were going to treat yourself to some make up which brand and what exactly would you go for? I don’t usually spend that much on myself in this way and really fancy a treat.

Clé de peau! It's a bank breaker but 25% off on cult beauty. Absolutely incredible serums, the foundation is fabulous and the moisturisers are fantastic. Don't rate La Mer much! La Prairie is good too, but really expensive. Drunk Elephant is good too, not too pricey in the scheme of what I've suggested either.

There's a nice Elemis set on QVC, it's a tote bag with several products in, about £66/67 I think

The elemis marine cream smells nice and the face cleanser. I didn't get on with the balm.

Definition of higher end products may vary, I've tried lots of expensive ones and these are the ones I like

Cleansing balms - Then I Met You is gorgeous and I love the Naturium Ginseed one. I normally like fragrance but I find elemis too strong, it can cause irritation.

Serums - big fan of the espa hydrating serum, it's always a winner for me year round. Before I used Tret I used to like Sunday Riley Good Genes.

Moistusier - I have never felt like a high end one is worth it and I've used La mer which wasn't as good as my La Roche Posay.

Oils - I do love facial oil, Sunday Riley Luna oil is really nice

Spf - my favourite high end one is ultra Violette face fluid

Vitamin C - Oskia capsules and Medik8 are my two favourites. The Oskia are like little capsules of sun!

No help on makeup front though sorry!

NorthFaceofthelaundrypile · 27/11/2022 21:53

I bought an extra large Elemis cleansing balm from JL for Black Friday.
What I’d really love are the Oskia Vitamin C capsules. I had a week’s supply in a beauty box and loved them!

There's a good elemis deal on for £66 and a day or night mystery kit for £100 on QVC. Excellent value & definitely worth looking at.

Before I used Tret I used to like Sunday Riley Good Genes.

Same! Definitely a winner.

I also recommend moisturiser by Haeckels. And loose powder by La Prairie. And Armani Beauty skincare range Extreme is spectacular (with equally spectacular prices). Their make up is more reasonable but still excellent quality.

Sisley black rose oil cream is amazing.

I love chantecaille, their future skin foundation is amazing.

It's ok at 25% off

PAFMO · 28/11/2022 20:07

I treated myself to some Future Skin foundation without realising it's oil free so no good whatsoever for my dry skin. :-(

The Elemis cleansing balm is truly lovely- one of the nicest balms I've used.

I sometimes treat myself to a Liz Earle superskin serum and moisturizer.

Also love L'Occitane Divine cream.

None of the above have any actives in so don't do that much in terms of anti-ageing but by heck they make me look forward to cleansing and moisturizing!

I switched to Elemis about 18 months ago from protect and perfect and I can honestly say the improvement in my skin is fantastic and I will now not use any other brand!
it feels so much more silky and has more of a glow about it! I also don’t tend to come out in so many hormonal spots now I am using Elemis.
I use the pro collagen definition day and night cream religiously and also the cleansing balm which is gorgeous. My whole skin care range is now Elemis.
QVC always have some brilliant offers and normally you can do payments on what they call an easy pay normally over 3 or 4 months so makes it much more affordable.
it really is an amazing brand I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Have a look at Biologique Rechercher. It's an expensive commitment but I like it.

Don't bother with Augustinus Bader - I've used it for a very long time with no visible difference whatsoever. Other than it didn't cause any irritation on my skin it did nothing for me.

I always recommend No7 Laboratories Line Correcting Serum which seems to be on offer very regularly. Not a luxury line as such but RRP makes it look a bit on the expensive side for a 15ml tube.

I dip in and out of expensive brands but can't recommend anything with real sincerity apart from the above.
I also use some high street brands and the night oil from Aldi in the blue bottle works well on my skin, not often in stock though.

I’m 57 and use brands called SUNDAY RILEY and KATE SOMERVILLE absolutely fantastic. I had some quite deep lines on my forehead and around my eyes and are now barely noticeable after 4-5 months of using. Perricone MD is also another great brand I love. It’s expensive for a reason!
Make up brands I recommend are IT cosmetics now available from boots and Doll 10 available from QVC. Used them for around 5 years now xxx
