Menopausal skin- foundation?

Candlestellysofa · 26/11/2022 23:24

Hi everyone, I’m in desperate need of some new foundation. My skin has suffered quite badly during the menopause, I’m 53 and have combination skin but it seems to be getting drier. I’ve never worn a lot of foundation but when I did it would usually be an Ester Lauder one.
I’ve tried a few but they just seem to sit on top of my skin and highlight any dry areas! I’m not looking for anything too heavy, just a light coverage to make me look a bit better.
Can anyone recommend one that’s worked for them? TIA

My skin became sensitive and dry and at 50 got acne for the first time ever! i was recommended Note foundation and wear it every day. No more spots and it is fabulous. I expensive too. £11 a tube that lasts ages as you only need a blob smaller than a pea. Its light but fab coverage and evening of skin tone. Lasts all day. Would highly recommend! I use simple makeup remover, warm water and a flannel and nivea moisturiser now as my previous clinique regimen no longer worked!

Thanks @Whowhatwherewhenwhy1, I’ll look it up.

I have tried what feels like everything and in desperation resorted to the supermarket -Rimmel
It's amazing and more importantly cheap... Unlike the Charlotte Tilbury foundation I buy my daughter...

L’Oreal True Match Serum is fab for ageing skin

I had a similar problem and when I went on a spa day once the girl who was doing my facial said that my face was just soaking up all the products she was using. I changed my moisturiser to Exuviance, but still use Nivea as well and have changed my foundation to this which I find is much better than my previous Boots No. 7 uk.glossier.com/products/perfecting-skin-tint It's not at all heavy, but you can layer it up if you do want it a bit heaver for a night out, but for day time its perfect.

I also rate the Perfecting skin tint from Glossier. Im 52 and I don’t have problem skin but it is dry and this provides just enough coverage for daytime. I use the stretch concealer with it too. I can’t actually imagine using a full foundation in the daytime… it just doesn’t seem modern. I do have a tinted moisturiser from Bobby Brown or a foundation from Armani for evening but the Glossier is my day to day product.

I use Missha M Perfect Cover BB cream. Gives,a lovely sheen to the skin don't dewy or glowy) but doesn't highlight any dry patches. Not great coverage, though, it just evens everything out.
