Funeral coat attire.

Hi ,

Feel silly asking but what's the ettiquette around coats? I will be wearing a black dress with black tights but I'm struggling for a coat! I generally only have rust pink and bright blue coloured wool ones and the only black one I have is a smart black trench which is rather cold for the weather. Family member has confirmed people will be wearing dark colours. Do I need to purchase another coat?
Thanks

I'd borrow a dark coat from a friend, or wear the trench with a cardi underneath and big scarf on top

How far will you actually have to go outside in your coat? Last funeral I went to the car park was moments from the crematorium so you could get away with your trench i think. If it's a public transport journey I would see if you can borrow or maybe even rent a coat. I wouldn't buy one just for the occasion .

I would wear the trench, with a cardi underneath. If you don't want to wear the cardi at the funeral, either take a bag big enough for it to go in, or stuff the cardi down the sleeve of the trench when you take it off.

I’d wear the trench and dress warmly underneath.

I wore a short black fur coat at the last funeral I went to and it was fine.

It’s not that cold yet. Wear the trench coat.

Thank you all!
I will wear the trench and somethimg warm underneath. As someone mentioned I may not have to soend much time outside.
