Entertaining at home outfits

What do all you lovely style beauties wear when you have people coming round to your house.
Ive got a wardrobe full of real formal outfits for work etc and I've got proper full on glitz for "out out"
But I never seem to know what to wear if we have friends coming over for Sunday lunch or a evening at ours for cheese and wine etc.
I end up sticking my jeans on and the same floral blouse and I'm getting a bit bored!!

I tend to work on the theory that wearing no shoes dresses down a nice outfit well. So if it’s a party or dinner at home I’ll wear a little black dress and tights in winter. For lunch tend to be more casual - i don’t ever wear anything too structured at home. Always put jewellery on too.

I love Sezane and I have loads of silk blouses and shirts from there that I wear with either wide leg trousers from Sezane or high waist wide leg Levi's. It's hard to dress for sort of in between occasions isn't it?

LimeCheesecake · 22/11/2022 20:22

This is jeans and a nice top territory- so buy a few more blouses! Or nice jumpers.

wide leg trousers as an alternative to the jeans maybe?

PeacheyPeach · 22/11/2022 20:25

Ooh yes I'm liking the idea of wide trousers and shirt,
I actually have got in mind a little black dress with thick tights and a white frill collar top underneath so that might be a nice in-between outfit

Because we tend to stay in and entertain more than go out I feel like I'm not getting the chance to dress up as much and it's pretty grim!!!

I've just bought a longish sequin kimono to wear over jeans and a cami. I think kimonos (short or long) work well as a less structured, lightweight, casual jacket for at home entertaining.

I also wear satin wide leg trousers and leather leggings with longline silk, satin or chiffony shirts over.

Nice jewellery and hair up makes even plain lightweight jumpers over wide leg trousers look dressy.

My footwear is usually flatish backless mules or loafers.

@Rina66 Ooh love the sound of your kimono have you got a link so I can have a look at it.
Would you wear straight leg jeans with it

I have this one too in black which is £72, but I got 20% off, so it was £58? This is lined and has pockets.
