New foundation suggestions

I have loved a full coverage look ever since I started wearing makeup, but now I'm getting a bit older I think it makes me look drab. I use estee Lauder double wear and Mac Pro long wear concealer. My skin is really dry and it's starting to show under this combination.
I want a more light weight dewy foundation that still stays in place, same for concealer! Any suggestions?

I quite like the nars radiant glow one

StickyCricket · 22/11/2022 19:46

I’ve been recommended to try Armani Luminous Silk foundation. I haven’t managed to get to the shops yet to find my colour match, but I’ll follow this thread with interest to see what else is recommended.

fairycupcakes · 22/11/2022 19:47

Nars!

mobear · 22/11/2022 19:48

NARS Tinted Moisturiser, with the Creamy Concealer if/ when needed.

I find this settles in my fine lines but your skin may of course vary

I think the Japanese make the best foundations. Try either Shiseido or Suqqu.

heyimnew · 22/11/2022 19:58

Always hear good things about Nars actually

Where would I find the Japanese foundations?

I love Nars long wear

luciaann · 22/11/2022 20:00

And the tinted moisturiser

crumbsneverdid · 22/11/2022 20:07

Nars and Armani are both great. If you wanted a cheaper option, and fuller coverage, Rimmel's lasting finish is full coverage and also has a dewy quality. I was given it by my mum as she bought the wrong colour; didn't expect to like it, as use higher end, but really impressed. I use the cheapo for WFH days and Nars for face to face meets and nights out.

John Lewis carry Shiseido

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 22/11/2022 20:10

Also, M&S Autograph Luminous is good.

Blondeissimo · 22/11/2022 20:18

Armani luminous silk is my go to, it's lovely.

Shiseido is excellent, although hard to find somewhere where you can actually try it on ‘in the flesh’ so to speak.
I’m wondering though if their formulation/colours have changed somewhat recently? I’ve been 110 Very light ivory/alabaster for years and all of a sudden the last lot I’ve had make me look like a ghost.
Younger family members are recommending Fenty.

Niftythrifter · 22/11/2022 20:24

I second @ChardonnaysBeastlyCat recommendation. I have changed to this (£12) from an Estée Lauder one costing twice the price and I like it more. You can pop in to M and S they can give you a sample.

alark · 22/11/2022 20:44

The Nars tinted moisturiser is good, it's more like a light/medium foundation than a tinted moisturiser IMO

heyimnew · 22/11/2022 21:32

This has been really helpful thank you guys

I have just switched from Double Wear to Rimmel Lasting Finish after I saw a poster recommending it on here. I figured it was worth a try for a tenner and it really was. Same coverage but less drying that DW.

Matildahoney · 22/11/2022 21:40

Nars sheer glow, or their tinted moisturiser

Domino45 · 22/11/2022 22:44

Estée Lauder futurist hydra rescue foundation is a nice change from double wear, it’s a lot more glowy and natural looking. I would say it’s not as long wearing (on me anyway). It does have fragrance in, but it doesn’t have any obvious smell.

SabiRiver · 22/11/2022 22:49

What about a CC cream? Much lighter than foundation but a bit of coverage without being heavy. I use one with a bit of concealer where needed.

xogossipgirlxo · 23/11/2022 09:53

Sorry for ambushing 😆your thread. Does anyone know if Rimmel wake me up foundation is really a dupe for Armani luminous silk? I, as OP, was a fan of EL DW, but I feel it's getting too thick for my skin (I am mixing it with tinted moisturiser now), would like something bit lighter, but also quite cheap. TIA 😊

gertrudemortimer · 23/11/2022 09:59

Clinique even better glow is what I use i apply it with a sponge. What do you use to apply your foundation? I find brushes give a lot of coverage compared to a sponge perhaps you could swap your technique for applying it instead of buying new.

avocadoandchill · 23/11/2022 10:02

NARS is a Shiseido company brand so I don't know if they share research

bellalou1234 · 23/11/2022 10:13

I used double wear for about 20 years couldn't live without it then about 2 years ago it made me look awful old and tired. I'm not sure if they changed it or if it's just my skin ageing. Probably both. I now use clinique even better clinical and I like it.
