I’m trying to embrace my figure rather than constantly think ‘when I lose the weight’! I eat healthily (albeit not 100%!) and do loads of exercise.

I need a new wardrobe! I’m 50, a casual dresser, jeans and t/hoodie or dress and tights. I don’t need to dress for the office and don’t have a huge budget.

I’d really like some ideas, people to follow etc, have a rethink of my boring usual.

Any ideas gratefully received 🙏🏽

I should add I’m 5’1”, 11st 7lb, 12-14 on top, 14-16 bottom. Curvy with big boobs. Very short legs!

You might benefit from following Emilyinnesstylist on instagram and perhaps looking at purchasing some of the services she offers. I haven't engaged her yet myself but she's very focused on enhancing what you have and from all accounts there's a whole host of uk women who love what she does

Are you sure you are those clothes sizes? Do you go for baggy clothes? I’m an inch taller than you, but a pound heavier and I’m comfortably size 12, 30inch waist across the board in non-stretch jeans from Primark to Levi?

I know weight is carried differently, but you seem pear shaped like me, I also have short legs and we are very similar height and weight wise? Could you possibly be hiding in bigger, casual clothes and tenting yourself?

but to answer your Q:

For day to day- I wear high wasted mom jeans with cropped jumpers, fleeces and t-shirts. No midriff on show, but just brushing the waistband. Plain or striped. No florals or anything too twee.

In between, like going out to lunch or the pub- I have ‘fashion trainers’ like Nike dunks or printed vans slip ons that I wear with jeans and silky blouses and shirts. Or I’ll wear a plain top like the above with a leather skirt and chunky boots.

Going out- Midi and midaxi dresses in block colours or animal print- but with chunky black boots. Or a black body with jeans, the boots. Lots of chunky jewellery.

I also have some nice quality loungewear in black and camel shades from Uniqlo that I happily wear out for brunch, coffee, going to the shops on days I want to be more cosy.

@Rooma following! Thank you
@Suprima thank you so much for all that info, there’s some great tips in there.
Yes, possibly wearing a bit too baggy but I’m pretty sure of my sizes, maybe the lower end of the sizes I’ve stated. My thighs are chunky!
With mom jeans I tend to wear something a little longer than on the waist (not too big and baggy) but I need to develop confidence to go a bit smaller/shorter. Paranoid about big tum!
Your wardrobe sounds lovely!
