I'm booked in to get pre-bonded keratin extensions this week...tomorrow is my last day to cancel the appointment/change my mind

Has anyone had these before - did they damage your hair long term??

All types of extensions have potential to to cause damage, make sure stylist is qualified (not a legal requirement in uk), the section should be nice and neat and not too much hair added, an uneven section and too much hair can cause traction alopecia. I never place extensions further forward than the ear as hair is fine there.
Extensions rarely last the 12 weeks stated I find they start getting uncomfortable at about six weeks and will generally need looking at for a part removal/ top up around this time.
Brush them carefully never wash them bent over the bath, dry the bonds, rest of hair can air dry, keep them plaited at night and avoid friction on synthetic clothing, wind etc
Hope they turn out OK (I am a former extensions!)

I've gotten extensions for about 20 years and yes they do damage your hair but it really depends why you are getting them. I lost so much of my hair after children so I use them for volume. Yes my hair is probably worse than without them but as it wasn't ever going to be great again it was a fair trade off as it looks a million times better now.
If for length I probably wouldn't, they are addictive and once you start its v hard to stop, you feel bald without them !

I have extensions, no way I’d get bonded, they cause huge damage, the nano rings is what I get and I have rhe stylist move them every four weeks so no damage. They don’t last twelve weeks, your hair will habe grown about an inch and a half by then so they will be an inch and a half away from your roots and look awful

Thanks all

Oh god, I'm a bit scared now.

My story is that my hair is naturally fine but has also been cut into a lob and heavily highlighted...leading to short hair with fine/broken ends. I know even if my hair was healthy again, it will always be fine so I do relate @workshy46

I've had tape extensions recently and my hair is definitely thinner after they were removed which is annoying. Personally I want to go with nanos now but my hairdresser only does bonded Sad he said this is because the attachment is smaller/more comfortable. I guess I do feel uncomfortable with anything glued in

@Coffeetableposhbooks how did you find a hairdresser that offers nano extensions?
