Essie Wicked

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 20/11/2022 22:54

Literally just opened the thread to say Essie Wicked, which I have just painted my nails with tonight.

luckylavender · 21/11/2022 13:41

Me too. Did it last night. Essie is such better varnish than Chanel too.

Justkoko · 21/11/2022 14:43

Fab, I was studying essie polishes last night, wicked looks very very dark, almost black, can you still see the burgundy?

I was also looking at 'sole partner' and 'model clicks'. The look slightly less dark. I want a proper dark vampy red without it appearing black. I'm quite pale and at risk of looking a bit gothy!

Sali Hughes wrote a column on affordable brands and she reckons that Essie is top-notch. I ordered Hot Cocoa on that basis and I may buy Wicked too.

TheOriginalMrsMoss · 21/11/2022 15:29

I have Rouge Noir and I would avoid. The brush is thin and the polish doesn't have the staying power of other brands. I always use my other similar nail polish colours in preference;

Bourjois 1 seconde Rouge Obscur or
Revlon Vixen

Both easy to apply and nice deep colour with 1-2 coats.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 21/11/2022 17:43

Wicked and Rouge Noir are both very, very dark, OP. You might want something more rouge, less noir!

CinnamonSweet73 · 21/11/2022 19:43

I also opened the thread to say Essie Wicked! You could try Essie Bordeaux if you want something a bit more red?

Justkoko · 21/11/2022 20:33

I think that I do want a little more red than wicked, but not brown. Definitely a proper dark oxblood. Vampy.

Sorry posted too soon - Darkest desires is a good one.

I probably seem fussy over it, but I'm quite pale skinned with neutral ish undertones leaning to pink. Some shades are more flattering than others and I'd like to get it right.

Eg. Everyone loves essie ballet slippers as a suits all neutral. It's too white on me and looks odd. Essie vanity fairest (slightly pinker) is my favourite barely there pink. It's spot on.

Gold always looks terrible. Best shades are rimmel red ginger or max factor ultra violet in the summer. I need my perfect winter oxblood! Its like my hands need seasonal analysis😆

This may help op?

Sorry.. posted too soon!

OPI All-A Bordeaux the Sled is very, very similar and is one of my favourites!

SingMeToSIeep · 22/11/2022 11:16

Literally just came on to say Wicked! If you want to go even more budget friendly, Essence (available at Wilko) do one for £1.80 and it lasts as well as more expensive brands. Far better than Chanel, which I find chips within a day, even with a top coat.

Justkoko · 22/11/2022 13:01

Have got a mini bottle of essie bordeaux, if it's lighter than I'm after,I'm going straight in for wicked!

MrsWidgerysLodger · 22/11/2022 13:12

Essie Shearling Darling is a lovely dark burgundy.

Nars Chinatown might hit the right spot for you...
