Dyson Corrale straighteners

Does anyone have these and how do you find them? Dd has asked for them for Christmas but £400?!

Reviews seem mixed, mostly good but some terrible ones talking about ripping hair out and being very heavy to use.

Would be interested to hear anyone’s experience with these.

No straighteners are worth £400. Cloud Nine ones are about the best out there and are much better priced

DoodlePug · 20/11/2022 15:50

They sent me some on a free trial because I spend too much on dyson

I did quite like them, being cordless made it easier and they were better at curling than my ghds however they were very heavy and I felt they were too expensive.

Dyson are great for anything to do with air but I didn't feel the straighteners offered anything new.

Can she be talked into the ghd glide instead of she already has a reasonable pair of straighteners? It's different and very good imo.

Thank you, I really didn’t want to be persuaded to pay that much although she did tell me you can get them cheaper on eBay.

She has curly hair which she has a love/hate relationship with. I think her curls are gorgeous but she longs for long, straight silky locks.

Just looked up the Cloud Nine ones, they’ve got great reviews.

QVC is good for dyson hair stuff. Check for cash back and referrals for a little bit off. There might also be a TSV coming up. I’ll check and come back.

I have the Dyson straightener as DH was clearly stumped at what to buy me for valentines and somebody told him it was a good idea! I still use my GHD's and prefer them to the Dyson straighteners. I must say I absolutely love the Dyson air wrap x

Puppers · 20/11/2022 16:54

I have them and even after a year I'm not sure how I feel about them. They are very different to use than other straighteners - heavy and don't glide smoothly over the hair. The short battery life is a pain too. But I do find it much easier to curl with them as they have the flexible plates that grip the hair better and stop it splaying everywhere which always happens when I've tried with other brands.

If your daughter wants to straighten her hair rather than curl it then she could undoubtedly get a better product for less money.

ArialAnna · 20/11/2022 17:07

I tried my friend's on my curly hair and did not like them at all! Felt like they were snagging and catching my hair. Much prefer my GHDs which are over 12 years old and still going strong!

THisbackwithavengeance · 20/11/2022 18:13

Not the point of the thread but you mentioned buying the straighteners on eBay.

I personally wouldn't buy anything high end on eBay. It will very likely be a fake.

I know someone who used to be a customs officer and he used to spend whole shifts in the run up to Xmas at DHL and other delivery depots confiscating counterfeit hair removal systems, high end straighteners, designer bags and Mac make up.

When the make up was tested, it was found to contain high levels of lead.

Redup · 20/11/2022 19:16

The only reason to have them I think, is if you really need to be off grid. I use them when we go away in our campervan - that's why I bought them (and a cordless hairdryer) I never use either of them at home, preferring my dyson hairdryer and my babyliss big brush thingy.

Moanycowbag · 20/11/2022 19:33

I had some and sold them, loved the cordless aspect but my hair is fine yet wavy and the made the most awful noise and felt like they were snagging my hair, the flexible plates seem to pinch random hair strands and the plates aren't smooth which is why you get the noise, but it was just not a pleasant experience, I brought them because I love the hair dryer but just hated the straighteners, so I went back to my old Corioliss Straighteners.

Really interesting, glad I posted!

Now to try and persuade dd there are some better options!

I like it because it's very easy to curl your hair with. For straightening I think a regular hair straightener works better, but I still use the dyson as my electrical plug is not near my mirror and the cable isn't long enough.

If you bite the bullet maybe look at QVC as you get a 90 day return option and can often can spread the payment on easy pays.

GHD are the best

Justthisonce12 · 22/11/2022 21:06

They are absolutely lovely and did a great job, but they ended up going back to the shop for a refund because they wouldn’t turn on after less than 11 months

bendmeoverbackwards · 27/11/2022 21:39

Ok I think I’ve managed to convince her to look for other options.

GHDs or Cloud Nine? What’s best/easiest to use on curly hair?

OP posts:
TheGoodEnoughWife · 27/11/2022 21:42

Cloud 9s. GHD went downhill. Cloud 9s are excellent.

I wouldn't buy from any old eBay seller but dyson's official outlet is fine.

I would never buy them again, heavy, battery does last.

Valence94 · 23/09/2025 17:24

I would never buy these again, they are heavy, the battery doesn’t last, my hair has never straightened like it used to with my GHD’s and cloud nine’s, I’ve been straightening my hair for years and was so excited to get these and I’m so disappointed with them. I really can’t see what all of he hype is about.
