Please help with shoes!

Hi all

I've bought this dress - I've got a birthday meal out soon, and hoping to wear it to work meal out for Christmas.

I love the dress, but I am utterly useless with shoes. I'm normally a jeans/chinos with Stan smiths/Chelsea boots kind of girl. Neither feel like they'll work with this dress.

I cannot wear heels due to knee problems - at all. Possibly could have a chunky very low heel - cannot risk rolling my ankle due to my joints. I also tend to not like any height as I'm 5ft 7 and taller than all friends/work mates.

I'm a big girl with chunky calves, so never really know where to go with boots. I like the look of calf high etc but don't want to end up looking like Nessa . I also wouldn't have a clue what colour to wear with that dress?

Extra points if you can recommend a jacket? I have a denim one but that's about it....

Those boots would go nicely, and yes definitely with black tights as they'll elongate your legs. No tights/ different coloured tights would give a blocky effect due to the length of the dress.

I think a cropped (or shortish) denim jacket would work well too.

Update! Wore it last night, with black tights, black Chelsea boots and a denim jacket and I felt fab!! Thanks everyone, it takes a lot for me to feel comfortable "dressing up" so this is huge. I'm off to find some more dresses today
