Cashmere

Can anyone tell me if cashmere is at all scratchy? I can't wear lambs wool or anything with wool in, even the collars on wool blend coats feel like Brillo pads! I fancy a cashmere jumper for Christmas but don't want to ask for one only to find I can't wear it. Thanks

No it's super soft (I hate scratchy too)

MrsJephson · 18/11/2022 23:24

No, it's like a fluffy cloud.

Excellent! Thank you, that's my Christmas present sorted!

I hate scratchy wool too and can't bear it. Cashmere is lovely and soft.

I also have a couple of these jumpers which are also soft and not at all scratchy. They are expensive, so I buy when on offer -15% off right now.

Well, it's personal. But I can say I have very very sensitive skin. I get on very well with cashmere. I find it doesn't scratch or cause itching on my skin. It's light, but warm. I have a cashmere wrap downstairs (in winter) and in my bedroom to wrap around my shoulders.

But different people react differently to things. I'd try something small before you go for a pashmena. I don't object to.paying 100+ for mine, but that's because I know I love them.

If you can find it and can afford ot, a cashmere-silk mix is even better.

Johnston's of Elgin has an annual sale but not sure if it is now over. Cashmere comes in different qualities and is not scratchy at all. TK Maxx usually has a few cashmere jumpers on their racks. If you close your eyes and run your hand over the rail it's easy to pick out the cashmere ones as their soft feel is different from wool.

I can't wear wool, but can cashmere, I would say I still don't particularly like the feel of it on my neck though, but I do have ridiculously sensitive skin.

@alloutofcareunits Have a look at Teacup and Tova I’ve had their cashmere and it’s so lovely to wear.

All made in Scotland, it’s a small independent with gorgeous cashmere knitwear … and they have £50 off at this weekend!

H&M do nice pure cashmere. Uniqlo is good too. Look on Vinted too!

Thanks for the suggestions everyone, plenty to choose from there! It was a black one with a v neck and collar on M&S website that caught my eye but I'll do some further exploring now 😁
