What actually made a difference to your skin?

I have tried facials (including hydro facial which was ££), various serums, creams etc and they all seem to do very little.

I have had Botox around my eyes and I am keen to get it again in and in my forehead / 11s too but I am currently pregnant so it will be next year that I look into that.

My forehead has so many fine lines and looks seriously dehydrated.

Please tell me - what worked for you?

Thanks @StickyCricket that is a lot! I might give it a try with products I have to hand.

I've always had compliments on my skin. Drink lots of water, have done for decades & recently cut out alcohol. That makes a big difference!

I stopped all the retinols, acid toners, etc and started using the 'moisture sandwich' method for skin about 6 weeks ago. In the last 2 weeks I've had several clients comment on my skin and how good it looks.

I had no idea that's what it's called but I've been doing that for years

Moved from Elizabeth Arden 8 hr cream to using up various tubes of lansinoh nipple creams (8 hr cream is basically Vaseline, lanolin and vit E.)

I'll put Cerave or I've been trying retinols from beauty pie then the lansinoh on top.

Sam bunting night cream is amazing but I can't keep up with the price tag.

Losing weight, exercise, fluids.

After a very stressful couple of months I think 'not being stressed' was a bit help!

WarriorN · 20/11/2022 09:16

@Claudia84 which Cerave is that? I've a tube of 50 cream

What does the method involve please?

All the boring stuff - enough sleep, no sugar, enough water, not much booze, low dairy.

There's no product which has the same effect.

lugeforlife · 20/11/2022 09:48

Consistency.

I have a fairly simple and basic routine but sometimes when stress/anxiety take over it goes. If I keep it consistent then it shows.

I can up the water - I don’t drink / smoke anyway and can certainly be better in the sun.

Giving up sugar would be a challenge!

Yep exactly that it's the spf 50

WarriorN · 20/11/2022 13:35

Thanks. I've been using that and/ or altruist face fluid.

FleecyBlanketPerson · 20/11/2022 13:42

The only ones I trust and have worked for me are drinking lots of water, cutting down coffee and doing exercise.

I've dabbled with a good cleanse (morninga face wash M&S Emma Hardie I liked), tone (simple brand) and moisturizer, liked an M&S sleep miracle one. Always use spf even in winter.

All those combined work alright for me.

Best ones are the water, SPF and exercise though, imo. Oh and cutting out sugar.

Once you reduce your sugar habit it's not difficult... you fancy it less and less till it becomes a bit revolting to you!
Ditto dairy, if you go down that route.

I bought the Dr Dennis Gross face mask and it’s worked wonders on clearing my spot-prone skin and I definitely think it’s warding off the wrinkles.

Added bonus of looking like I’m an extra from Tron and freaking my DP out when I wear it.
