Botox wearing off

I've had Botox done for the first time two months ago. I had my number 11s done and my forehead. My number 11s were completely erased but I can see them reappearing. Is this normal? Should I complain? I went to a reputable place and paid top dollar to a proper doctor to have it done.

You may need a top up. Did you have a review after 2 weeks and how long has it been since it was done?

redbigbananafeet · 13/11/2022 22:37

From my experience 2 months is very soon for it to be wearing off. I'd call them and ask about a top up (complimentary).

How deep were the 11's ? I thought filler was the best option for those.

CraigDavid · 13/11/2022 22:46

Thanks for replying. It's been 9 weeks since I had it done and yes I had my two week check. Everything was fine at that point.

Number 11s not too deep and the Botox initially completely got rid of them.

Longevity also depends on your metabolism. Mine starts to wear off by month 2 and I need a top up by month 3 (the shortest advisable time between appointments, I think).

What I have noticed, after a couple of years use, is that my lines are much less noticeable now and so even though it wears off in a similar amount of time as always, my lines are smoother.

I though the first few times don't last very long, the muscle recovers its memory fairly fast? The effect is accumulative, after a few you don't need it so often.
too much botox in my forehead to remember properly

isonedaytoday · 13/11/2022 23:01

I've had Botox in my 11's in the past that only lasted 2-3 months then was recommended Botox and filler which has worked well for me and last 18-24 months.

There's a lot of factors that can affect/effect I can never remember which is which high metabolism, first time, strength of muscles, amount used being just a few. I think off the top of my head 12weeks is normal for movement to start again.

I get 16 weeks out of mine before it starts to wear off, but I get a lot put in as I like to be completely frozen.

Some people just aren't compatible with the treatment but it would be worth while speaking to the practitioner to discuss it but I would go in all guns blazing.

LadyPoison · 14/11/2022 00:56

It stopped working on me after a couple of treatments.

IamChipmunk · 14/11/2022 06:34

I didn't find botox worked very well or lasted very long. I've had much better results with Azzalure. I get 4 months out of it...

Delatron · 14/11/2022 08:20

Yeah it can wear off quicker on some people due to reasons listed above. For that reason I doubt you’ll get a free top up. That is what the 2 week review is for. I would wait until the 12 week mark - which is only 3 weeks away and go back and discuss - you may need more next time..

For some people it has fully worn off in 12 months and it’s a gradual process so you would see the start of it wearing off at 9 weeks unfortunately. I normally get about 4 months but with time the 11s get less and less pronounced. I’m having a break now and mine are barely visible despite it being 6 months plus since I had it done.

superplumb · 21/11/2022 17:36

It depends on how strong your muscles are. My 11s come back quickly but the more you have it the longer each one seems to be

ZealAndArdour · 21/11/2022 17:43

Depends how strong the muscles are and your metabolism. My metabolism is fast in general, I struggle to keep weight on because of the metabolism. I always had the same issue with filler that it wore off quickly. 9 weeks and some movement back doesn’t sound vastly unreasonable at all.

pocketvenuss · 21/11/2022 22:01

By 2 months mine is definitely not as effective. By 3 months I need to be redone. I get it around every 3 months and by then it's almost all gone. I wish it lasted longer
