Spa hotel wants £260 extra on top of room for spa

Didn't realise until after I paid and cannot cancel as its through Wowcher.

So guess what, we are just paying for room and food and I've asked for an en suite bath ( not shower) in which we will create our own spa experience!

I'm going to buy a home spa kit and learn some massage techniques for me and hubby. Send for once, asking for 'extras' won't be inappropriate!

But I digress. Can anyone recommend any home spa products/ techniques for us to use in the room of bathroom ?

Interested in the rituals hammam hot salt scrub.
How would that work as a salt and oil scrub?

And howd do you do a facial?

We will take tonnes of our own towels to save messing up the hotel sheets etc. And obligatory spa/ massage music downloaded to phone along with scented candles etc.

what a shame about the deal. depending on where your hotel is, maybe you could find a salon near to the hotel and have a treatment each on the way to the hotel.

you may not be able to use candles in the hotel room due to the fire alarms. maybe you could add a few drops of some essential oils to the bath.

spa music - lots of videos on you tube (me and DD10 do our own spa days at home and search for 'relaxing spa music).

there are also lots of massage videos on youtube you could try.

i wouldn't waste my money on too many products. i'd go for a nice bubble bath, the hammman salt scrub could be a good exfoliator and then a massage oil. wouldn't bother with a facial, other than a gentle facial massage.

you can get facial sheet masks and moisturising food socks from the pound shops.

don't forgot to bring some wine, chocolates etc.

When you say charging for the spa do you mean treatments or to just use a pool / thermal area?

Metabigot · 13/11/2022 15:21

Thanks.. we do get a free bottle of wine at least!

Due to rising energy prices a lot of spa prices have gone batshit. We stayed here before a few years ago and it was £15 entry £45 Inc a small treatment.

That's why I admittedly didn't read the smaller print.

Other local spas are £££ too so we are spending the next day on a canal boat trip with 3 course dinner instead.

Its £60pp just to get access to the facility £129 pp with a treatment. Daylight robbery!

Tbh £129 for a (60min?) treatment is about par for a fancy spa hotel in the southeast of the UK.
Charging for entry to the spa itself when you're a guest is ridiculous though, unless it's somehow detached from the hotel and is more its own separate facility.
Sounds like you'll have a great weekend anyway OP, enjoy!

Yes the rituals scrub is good. It has a nice smell.

Aromatherapy associates is lovely for bath oils.

Depends on your skin type to recommend face products.

I mean if you buy loads of products won't you be spending near what it costs to use the spa without a treatment?

No, as I can take them home after and I'll have a limit of £40 which is waay less than 260!
