Everyday walking boots

Nikhedonia · 12/11/2022 09:36

I've got walking trainers and heavy duty walking boots, but I want some day to day boots that are light weight (maybe slightly more stylish!) that I can wear for walks and also out and about for a coffee but that are waterproof as I live along a country road that gets very muddy.

Any ideas?

What sort of walking do you mean? If getting from A to B, you could go for something like Timberland.

FabricPigeon · 12/11/2022 09:50

I recently got these: www.joules.com/Women/All-Womens-Footwear/Chedworth/Waterproof-Hiker-Boots?size=Adult-3&id=213692%7CFRNAVY%7C3

They're exactly as you describe - lightweight but waterproof and don't look too ugly, I don't think!

Sometimes I do 10 miles, sometimes just to the shops. I'm hoping to find something versatile enough for both. I've had timberlands before and I think they are too heavy.

Ooh yes, that's the kind of thing I mean. The khaki are quite nice but the orange laces are a bit garish.

I have hiking boots from Decathlon for walking to next town through fields, but they're not dressy, and look more like hiking boots than these

FayCarew · 12/11/2022 10:05

The orange laces are a bit bright but it's quite fun to have a bit of colour on your feet

Nikhedonia · 12/11/2022 10:06

I could get them and change the laces... I just hate orange as a colour

Try Keen boots at sportsshoes.com. Something like this perhaps? www.sportsshoes.com/product/kee1182/keen-nxis-evo-waterproof-women%27s-walking-boots-~-ss22/#sku-kee1182

moggerhanger · 12/11/2022 10:09

Ugh sorry, link fail! These

moggerhanger · 12/11/2022 10:10

Fucksake, I give up!

Nikhedonia · 12/11/2022 10:14

The link is working for me! Thank you @moggerhanger. They are a bit sportier than I was thinking but I am tempted to get them as well Blush

@Nikhedonia ah good, it didn't work for me! I have some red ones I bought in lockdown, and some mid-calf thermal ones (not the same model as the link, just same manufacturer). They are so comfortable!

EraOfTheGrey · 12/11/2022 13:37

I have these but you can get similar from Toast. I actually saw a stylish woman wearing these with boyfriend jeans rolled up and a long Carmel wool coat - she even had swishy hair.
Me - I was wearing the Tretorn Grapa boats with leggings, fleece and waterproof, I was dog walking at he time.

Nikhedonia · 12/11/2022 14:32

@EraOfTheGrey I am not the swishy haired kind of woman. I am slightly frazzled and running late most days 🫣.

I've just bought some from Clarks for city and country dog walks and they feel lovely and comfy.
ATL Trek Sky GORE-TEX Black Warmlined Leather
Quite pricey but 20% at the moment

KirstenBlest · 12/11/2022 18:03

Blundstones get recommended on here a lot but I've not tried them

I wear my Blundstones all winter (when not at work). They polish up to look smart (ish) but are waterproof and can handle a proper hike if needed.

Ah sorry, that was an Aussie link. Here's a store in the U.K. that stocks the original boots -

LunaTheCat · 12/11/2022 21:45

I love by Blundstones - comfortable from Day 1.

mrdesyeti · 12/11/2022 21:59

Word of warning on the Joules Chedworths - the waterproofing doesn't last very long. I had mine for about three weeks before soggy feet made walks miserable. They are super comfy (by far the most comfy walking boots I've ever had) so definitely a great option for summer, but even walking through wet grass gets the insides wet. Looks like it wasn't just a one off pair too - take a look at the reviews on the Joules website first before you choose.

HipposHaveNipples · 12/11/2022 22:01

I have these for exactly what you describe and I love them... they're so comfy and have a side zip so you don't have to re-lace them every time.

Gillybobs · 12/11/2022 22:31

I wore these for the first time today and they are insanely comfy, waterproof, super light and very on trend
