Is this normal for Vinted?

I've just used Vinted for the first time and my first two attempted purchases were cancelled by the vendor!

Is this common?

I've never had onc cancelled but I've had people not send items, this just let's the sale lapse. I've used Vinted for about 9 months. I found sellers have let things lapse when I've bought a bundle and got a bundle discount!

Branster · 11/11/2022 15:43

Did you send them a message? Maybe they can't use the delivery option you chose?

This is the only situation I had an order cancelled by the vendor, but they sent me a message to explain and asked if I could choose Royal Mail instead of the courier option because they didn't have the facility for courier dropoff.

TravellingJack · 11/11/2022 15:45

How long had they been listed? If it's been a while, they may have got rid already and not removed the listing. If I see something that was listed more than a few months ago, I tend to offer or message first, especially if they don't seem to have been active for a while.

Paq · 11/11/2022 15:46

I've bought 4 things recently and all went fine!

ReachedTheEndofCake · 11/11/2022 15:49

I’ve only ordered one thing from Vinted, and it wasn’t sent, order cancelled after 7 days.
I queried via message to vendor but received no explanation.

EllaPaella · 11/11/2022 16:48

Sometimes its to do with the shipping option you choose. 'In locker' is a nightmare, they don't provide you with a label and so you can't actually deposit the parcel at an unstaffed locker. I've had this problem and the buyer advised me to cancel the sale, she then bought it again using a different shipping option. Lots of people having issues with the in locker option.

hippospot · 13/11/2022 20:38

Right so my third attempt to buy something has ended with a cancellation FGS!

You’ve been very unlucky OP, it has never happened to me and I’ve made about 30 purchases.

What method of postage are you selecting?

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 13/11/2022 20:44

Yes, it has happened to me several times.
I've probably done 12-15 or so Vinted transactions, and only 1 had gone smoothly. I've gone back to eBay and Marketplace.

Gr33ngr33ngr4ss · 13/11/2022 20:45

I've bought about 20 things in the last few months with no issue. I chevk when things were listed though. Tend not to buy things that were listed more than a couple of weeks ago.

Pearmain · 13/11/2022 20:48

Yes that happened to me three out of the four times I’ve tried to buy something on Vinted. I can’t see it’d be anything to do with the shipping option because I always stick with the seller preferred one. No communication from the seller at all.

I don’t bother with Vinted now, I’m sticking with eBay and Depop.

gaggiagirl · 13/11/2022 20:49

Out of 30 purchases I've had 6 cancelled. I still absolutely love vinted though it's saved me a fortune this year

fatisnotafeeling · 13/11/2022 21:11

Op I have brought a few things from there and never had anything cancelled, maybe it's to do with your account ?

@EllaPaella you don't need a printed label for inpost, you take the item to the lockers, scan the digital label and open the locker and put it in without a label. I've sold 10 things on there this way and they always get to where they are meant to go.

CatsEatDogs · 13/11/2022 21:37

I’ve seen things listed on vinted and eBay at the same time (definitely same item and seller) so I wonder if this is what happened to you op, the item sold on eBay abut wasn’t taken off Vinted quickly enough?

SpinningFloppa · 13/11/2022 21:40

Happens to me a lot even when I message them to ask if it’s available they will say yes then i buy it and they don’t send it and it gets cancelled 😕

AnneLovesGilbert · 13/11/2022 21:46

I used it for the first time a couple of weeks ago. One item cancelled but other two went through. One was due here latest last Thursday and when I went to check on it there’s a message saying if it’s not here by 2 December I’ll have two days to raise an issue and get a refund. It’s a coat, I need it now not in weeks, is that normal? The other one hasn’t been posted and it’s been days.

I usually use eBay and love it but there aren’t anywhere near as many options now so I’ve given Vinted a go and it’s annoying me.

xogossipgirlxo · 14/11/2022 12:00

Never happened to me (although I'm fairly new on vinted). They risk negative auto-feedback by doing so 😶

Flowermarket · 14/11/2022 20:52

I've used vinted for ages and never had any issues but had it happen 3 times in the last fortnight!

Redburnett · 14/11/2022 21:06

I've found Vinted to be less reliable than ebay. With my latest purchase the seller decided they had listed the item too cheaply as they had lots of favourites so cancelled the order after I paid. The seller described this as an 'innocent mistake'! Personally I think there are too many unreliable sellers on Vinted.

Senseofsomething · 14/11/2022 21:14

It’s random on Vinted. I have used it for a few months. I picked up some great stuff which has arrived quickly. So some good sellers.

Then there are the BAD. I had dress arrive that was actually ripped. And some base layer leggings with poo stains on which is soooo disgusting 🤮 Both refunded.

I’m now careful, looking a reviews. Also at sellers listings of other items, I feel I can tell something by the quality of items and photos.

FANTINE2 · 15/11/2022 12:49

I have had problems with In Post. One item disappeared completely.
The other deemed lost ,so buyer was refunded, but I later checked and said item had been delivered. Contacted buyer who sent the item back to me .
However, she had already accept the refund for it, so it was a win win for her. She realised I think that I had caught her out, so returned it to me without arguing, but then blocked me.
When I tried to point this out to Vinted and In post, neither were bothered.
I think there are a lot of people out there who have received the item and also the refunds,

i think occasionally what happens is that when the vendor prints the postage label, the buyers delivery carrier may one that they have no facilities for nearby. So most of mine are usually evri , which is a simple nip down to my local shop to post. But recently I had a few post labels for ipost or something, which would involve a twenty minute drive to drop off. It’s not easy to change this via vinted, so if people aren’t willing to drive to a far drop off point, the order will just lapse until it’s cancelled.
