When can I be blonde again?

Been bleach blonde 10 (foils) for years. Over the Summer, my hair got so light it was basically white. So I asked the Hairdresser to tone it down to more of a barbie baby blonde. Still wanted to be light blonde; but not white. Made this crystal clear.

She did a full head of shade 5 foils (I didn’t know this shade until after).

That turned me an ashy mucky brown. Hated it. Told her I hated it. So then she washed it loads. No avail. Then put a flat 9 all over to try to remove some of the ash. Which then turned my roots/halo orange! And killed off whatever little blonde was left. She washed again. Went even more orange. At that point, I realised it was going from bad to worse and left feeling sick.

So I visited another salon the next day in tears. She scrubbed 3 times with a strong shampoo. Then ran very fine low vol bleach through just the roots plus a purple toner on the root to try to remove the orange. She didn’t want to run the bleach all the way through as she said worried about breakage. I think she did the best she could. She also cut off 3 inches so I am now just below chin length (sob).

I have washed loads with clarifying shampoo. I’ve got very very fine/thin not great condition hair already. Lot of breakage. I never use heat. Hair is naturally straight & thin. I usually only wash 1-2 per week. I use hair masks weekly, oil & Keratese range. Olaplex monthly etc.

Now I am ashy brown on bottom 3/4 half with subtle blonde roots.

When can I get back to blonde? And how? Will a full head of foils fix this? Should I keep washing or leave it? Would a full head of foils really destroy my hair now?

please help! I feel disgusting!

Oh I really feel for you.

I had a similar hair disaster last year - I went in for a colour correction having over dyed my hair from box dye (too dark). The hair dresser bleached it and it turned green in parts. He tried to bleach again to remove the green which obviously just made it worse - more damaged and it didn’t do anything to the green.

I also had lots chopped off, ended up with a long bob, and had brown dye over the green with toner to take away the green.

It has been passable but so dry and damaged on the ends.

I know this might not be what you want to hear, but honestly, I’d just grow it all out. If your hair is only chin length then it will only take a year or so at a guess.

Use lots of treatments to help the condition and when you’ve grown it out see how you feel and start again.

Mine is shoulder length and the top half is grown out now and looks so much healthier. In the meantime I’ve been using lots of treatments and the ends don’t look anywhere near as dry as they did when it first happened. It’ll be another year before mine is grown out but then my hair will be in great condition, with no dye and having had minimal heat and lots of deep conditioning. I’ve sworn never to use dye or bleach again!

Thanks - I don’t mind using bleach. I’m more curious as to when I can bleach again safely in order to get blonde again.

I tried to grow my hair out previously. Looked horrendous. My natural colour is very flat & I have a lot of greys too so I’d rather just go back to blonde

thanks

"Omg my hair is SO blonde I love it. So glad I don't have dull brown hair"

Said no natural blonde ever 😂😂😂.

Your friends sound scary, so inane, how can you stand it?

Ditch them and get a life.
