Tote bag or cross body bag for travel

I am looking for a tote bag or cross body bag that I can use while travelling. To take on the plane and then use while we are sightseeing. I have a coach tote that I like but it doesn’t close at the top and would like something with a zip I think.

I like this radley tote in soft leather but it doesn’t close.

Longchamp Le Pliage gets my vote.

I hadn’t thought of them, I do like them, do you have one? Do they stay on your shoulder if you are wearing a coat?

I have the long handled Le Pliage and it stays on no problem with a coat. I like that its very lightweight for travel. My issue with large leather totes is that they can be quite heavy even before you put anything into them.

They can be and then add a water bottle for the kids, some muesli bars, a couple of rocks that the younger one absolutely must have and it does start to weigh you down! I usually use a bag that can only fit a lip balm and phone so I don’t have to hold anyone else’s things now they are a bit older.

Le Pliage has some nice colours I will have to have a good look to see which ones I like

You can always get an organiser too for the Le Pliage to organise it!
I love mine for travelling. Fits under the plane eat, light, packable, washable.

Crossbody so it’s in front where you can see it at all times. Leaves hands free and no need to ever put it down. If I needed to carry anything larger I’d take a separate tote and still keep all valuables in the cross body.

I second the LP, had mine for years, it's capacious, light and still looks good as you can sponge it down.

The Le Pliage do sound amazing! Seems like I should have had one for years :)

Most of my bags are cross body because I seem to have difficulty keeping shoulder bags on my shoulder. I normally wear the crossbody under my coat and then I don’t need to fuss when going inside and taking coat off. But one large enough for water bottles and camera and kids knick knacks probably won’t fit

Another tip is to get the Le P on Vinted. They are very durable and there are always several on sale.
