Grrrr
I ordered something from Sports Direct and had to pay €6 for it to be delivered to s Sports Direct store. 🙄
Why ?
Other UK companies don't charge for delivery to one of their stores.
It was the only place I could order this item from unfortunately so went ahead with the order.
It came and the item is too big so has to be returned.
If I return instore I can only get a credit note.
I have to pay to return it for a refund.
Buyer Beware is right, sadly.
I hadn't realised beforehand that by ordering an item and having to return it would cost me €11.

I am an idiot who won't be ordering from Sports Direct again.

Tk maxx is the same with their delivery to store.... So overpriced!

dementedpixie · 07/11/2022 21:33

Do you not still get a voucher for £5 with store delivery?

If you return all the items they should refund your original delivery charge.

ShopoholicIn · 07/11/2022 22:36

@dementedpixie is only for 100 pounds worth of order that you get 5 pounds in store voucher

LadyEloise1 · 08/11/2022 00:53

Yes I got a voucher but I'd prefer free delivery or return.

As I said they should refund your original delivery charge if you return the whole order. You wouldn't pay both delivery and return postage fees

It's £1.99? I don't think that's bad at all. Or free over £50

TkMaxx offer it for free if you spend a certain amount like many other places (Boots, JL). The delivery cost if you don't spend the minimum is not extortionate and they also offer a full refund rather than credit note.

Can Sports Direct get away with just offering a credit note if returning to store? I would have thought Distance Selling Regulations meant they had to offer a full refund (I have not checked the law to confirm this)

astronewt · 08/11/2022 09:49

Because that's how they make it possible to offer lower prices on the actual goods; by passing on costs to the customer that retailers who charge more up front for the items can absorb. It adds additional cost to them to move the stock around so they recoup from you. That's how retailing business models work.

Shop in store or somewhere else next time.

It's only £1.99? I stand corrected! It used to be a lot more last time I did that. I just shop in store now :)

lindyloo57 · 08/11/2022 17:25

I though if you buy online you should get a refund not a credit note.

lindyloo57 · 08/11/2022 17:31

If you go on the gov uk site it says for online orders as long as you let the retailers know within 14 days of receiving the item that you on longer want the item, you can get a refund

LadyEloise1 · 08/11/2022 18:07

Unfortunately Sports Direct operate in Ireland and I'm not sure of the legality of credit note only here if returning to a store. I'd say though the EU would have fairly robust consumer laws but with Brexit they won't apply. Sad
M&S and Boots in Ireland don't charge for in store delivery of goods ordered online and M&S will take back items in store. I'm not sure with Boots as I have always kept what I ordered.
I'd think Next in Ireland's policies are similar to M&S.
Lesson learned - I will never order from Sports Direct online again.
I now have to drive out and find a location ( petrol station) that will take the Sports Direct item for return.

I dont think Sports Direct offers returns in store for an item bought online so you wouldn't get a refund or credit note.

You would get your refund if you return it by post within 28 days according to the T&Cs.

Sports Direct are an terrible shop with appalling customer service.

Oblomov22 · 08/11/2022 18:39

Rubbish company. I hate them with a passion.

flingingmelon · 08/11/2022 18:57

Sports Direct are run by a bunch of animals. They don't care about their staff, their environmental or social impact and certainly not their customers.

Shop elsewhere.

LadyEloise1 · 03/12/2022 10:12

@flingingmelon
".....shop elsewhere."

I will.
