What kind of handbag is "in" at the moment?

Just wondering, because I saw a thread recently about camera bags (which I've seen a lot of lately) but apparently these are now over?

What sort of bag is in fashion then? And yes, I know, use whatever bag you like etc etc, but I'm just curious about what's on-trend right now.

Saddle type leather bags with prairie dresses. I have a couple from the last time they were in but I’d look like mutton in a prairie dress!

CheeseMuffin · 06/11/2022 15:56

I never could get onboard with the prairie dress trend!

I’m definitely sitting this season out most people look horrendous in phrarie dresses Unless you’re 3 feet tall with pigtails/plaits

Small to medium shoulder bags are very in. ‘Baguette’ style particularly.

memyselfi · 06/11/2022 16:12

Oversized totes are on the horizon , the micro bags and smaller bags in general are on their way out imo.
There's also a lot of focus on soft cushion like leather , which probably won't be as durable as the LV epi leather so doesn't represent a great investment.
The way you want to use the bag is key, I I wanted a dressed up occasional bag I'd look at the seasonal Chanel tweeds , they cost the earth obviously but almost seem good value compared to the classic leather flap bags .
Personally I'm lusting after. Dior Caro but it's not 'trendy' as such , more a classic style .
Check out Fendi too , they're definitely having a moment .

Little bags that you hold. Completely impractical as you can't fit anything in. Or small ones that sit on your shoulder a la the 90s

GeorgiaGK · 06/11/2022 21:56

These! www.asos.com/prd/200394673?acquisitionsource=pasteboard

I bought one the other day 😊

fedstool · 06/11/2022 21:57

pouch clutch styles that you hold, again impractical

fedstool · 06/11/2022 21:58

and big slouchy totes which are practical

coodawoodashooda · 06/11/2022 21:59

I'd love a tote link please

JiggingJigsaws · 06/11/2022 22:08

Are bucket bags in?

I had those denim shorts as a teen in 1992! Pretty sure I had a similar bag too.

I think bags are a thing of the past. The trendy people I know wear their phone on a crossbody strap and don't bother with a bag. If you must have a bag, it should be a bum bag, which can be worn as a bum bag or across your chest as a sort of cross body bag (I'm not joking!). Anyways, I do love the simplicity of a phone on a strap and, having tried it out, I won't go back to using a bag.

GeorgiaGK · 06/11/2022 22:29

@CheeseMuffin 90s fashion has definitely come back!!

ping78 · 06/11/2022 22:32

90s fashion has definitely come back

Tangential comment but I started watching the Midnight Club the other day and it took me about 3 episodes to realise it was based in the 90s and not today as the clothes just looked current 🙈

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 06/11/2022 22:36

Per @dillydally24 i am loving these Cos bags at the mo. I bought the cream one back in about May and then got the black too

QuebecBagnet · 06/11/2022 22:38

These apparently.

What kind of handbag is "in" at the moment?
QueueEtwo · 06/11/2022 22:58

See I really like the COS cross body but I am fat!

That's going to hang round my neck like a necklace! 🤣 No way would I get my arm through there, especially if I'm also wearing a coat!

fedstool · 06/11/2022 23:18

90s fashion has definitely come back

I work near a sixth form, it's literally like looking at myself & friends at 6f.

The 90s were cool though but the 00s are coming so & a lot of that was bad 😱

fedstool · 06/11/2022 23:19

I think bags are a thing of the past.

Never, you always have to carry stuff plus they are often a status symbol.

The trendy people I know wear their phone on a crossbody strap and don't bother with a bag.

I love my phone strap but I don't wear my phone like that on the streets, it's asking to be mugged!

neonjumper · 06/11/2022 23:30

QuebecBagnet · 06/11/2022 22:38

These apparently.

Yes to these ... I bought the natural and black today .

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 06/11/2022 23:59

@QueueEtwo the strap is adjustable if that helps. I’m a 10/12 and can wear it comfortably with a big puffer/duvet or faux fur coat. They are also kind of magic in terms of what they fit inside, someone asked me the other day and was amazed at what I pulled out (umbrella, beanie hat, sunglasses, card holder, brush, lipstick, medication, fold-up shopper, tampons…).
