Long evening dress help!

I am going to a fancy awards ceremony with work and need a long evening dress. I have never had one before! I have had a look on John Lewis, Coast, Reiss, Outnet but everything seems either for very thin people (I want to cover my arms and have a mum tum) or a bit mother of the bride (I am only 41). Am I missing something? I don’t mind spending £300ish but would like to like it! Also I’m only 5’4, is everything going to be too long? Not much time to find something & have it adjusted. Argh please help!!!

Thanks ladies but it isn’t available in size 10 on the website now!! Was it definitely there earlier or just the red? I can’t find it anywhere else either. Any bright ideas on this dress or something else?

I have to go to black tie events a lot with work. Almost all my evening dresses are from charity shops or ebay

Why not rent one from a dress agency? We did this for prom and it was great. We used Having A Ball dress hire near us but not sure where you are...?

Does it have to be long OP? I bought an expensive long dress for an awards ceremony a few years ago and I’ve never worn it again. Not everyone was wearing long (I thought they would be) and I wish I’d bought something I’d get more wear from.

I’m a little shorter and a size 12 but I wore this to my civil partnership ceremony/party. It was ankle length and pretty stunning on I felt! The model must be closer to 5’10.
