Dress for 50th

I've got my 50th party coming up an decided to treat myself to a new dress.

Had a look in the shops but couldn't quite find the dress for me. Lots of sparkly Xmas dresses and lots of patterned long maxi dresses in the shops, all lovely but I didn't want something that looks too try hard or Xmas tree-esque, also as I'm 5ft1 so have to be careful as the long dresses tend to drown me or end up looking sacklike. There wasn't much in between, please help!

I'm after something that looks a bit edgy/different or has understated glamour. I'm a size 8. Quite like some of the dresses in All saints but they are slightly out of my budget. Has anyone bought Ro & Zo? Liked some of their styles too.
Any advice much appreciated Smile

I got a dress from the Pretty Dress Company for my daughter’s low-key wedding, it was beautiful - and got far more compliments than the £300 LK Bennett dress I wore at the fancy dressed-up part of the ceremony.
They do kind of classic glamour; I was hoping for a Jackie O/1950s kind of vibe and I think I pulled it off in their Hepburn dress.

Have u got you got the opportunity to have a personal shopper? I had k ecst Debenhams, wonder if John Lewis do it? We found a dress for my 50th that made me feel.like a million pounds, costume jewellery etc. All down to personal shopper.

Thanks for the links, all the dresses are so lovely and nice styles!
The ones in I wasn't so keen on the ones in m&s when I went in but I do like this one.

Hadn't thought about a personal shopper, good idea, and I think they do have one in JL. Is it quite relaxing? Is there any obligation to buy?

Maybe I'll order some of these dresses online to try at home and if no good I might book in with the shopper and see what they recommend.
