Help me save my marbles

I have two daughters, aged 12 and 15, I need dresses, and shoes, for a winter wedding that is NEXT SATURDAY FGS.
They won't agree on anything I choose.
My specs are
*long sleeves/or some sleeve
*not too short
*no slutty vampire outfits
*something suitable for winter colour wise

Please help me before I lick a raw chicken in a bid to get out of it.

So we have your specs, but what do they want to wear? Also, budget?

Some options from Lipsy/Next/Monsoon

12 year old - 1, 2 or 3

15 year old - 1, 2 or 3

Any of these in the right ballpark?

mrsjimhopper · 05/11/2022 20:38

What are the objecting to? Do the want to wear skimpy clubbing outfits? Or dress like Wednesday adams? Or a ripped jeans and hoodie?

Anyway try and find a long sleeved (loose) mini dress in a naice pattern, thick plagues tights and some naice flat shoes.

Next have loads but it is a weird seasons. In the app select girls and type wedding guest dress.

bloodynamechangethe3rd · 06/11/2022 00:21

So the 15 year old is in full sexy vampire stage where she wants to go full black minidress ripped tights and three pens of liquid eyeliner.
12 year old is whining about going in her trackys and football shirt.

I’ll have a look at all options, budget is not great but my granny said she will help me, no way would either of them choose anything from next, I’ve tried the full catalogue as I have an account.
stresdful, I’d appreciate it if I was trying to put them in matching gingham or something but they just cannot choose anything wedding appropriate

I honestly don’t think they’d agree to any of those, honestly I’m at the end of my rope with them.
id choose a long sleeve mini, I found a nice 70s type one in H&M and although the 12 year old was ambiguous they didn’t have her size available in store or on line and the 8-10 size was way too short.

Try popsy, they have lots of different styles that might appeal 🙂

NotDonna · 06/11/2022 01:00

Trackys and a football shirt is tricky but would they both wear a long sleeve bodycon type dress with opaque unripped tights and chunky shoes. And don’t worry about the eye liner?

NotDonna · 06/11/2022 01:16

1
or a v neck version 2
or something a bit brighter 3
These aren’t very wedding attire but probs a step up from vampire / sports wear.
maybe do a bit of reverse psychology with options of very twee dresses or your matching gingham idea first?
I have 3 teen DDs so I feel your pain.

creideamhdóchasgrá · 06/11/2022 01:20

Would they wear a suit and tie? Tux?

creideamhdóchasgrá · 06/11/2022 01:20

Like green velvet or deep red jacket?

POTC · 06/11/2022 01:25

I'd give them the option of a smart trouser suit instead, they don't have to wear dresses

creideamhdóchasgrá · 06/11/2022 01:29

sorry posted too soon

Firstly I'd sit them down and give them a long talk about respect for the bride and groom, and that the wedding is not about them. If they can't choose something sensible can wear their school uniforms or stay home.

Second, give them a budget and a laptop and get them to come up with 3 options each.

EloiseSpats · 06/11/2022 03:13

Or this with longer sleeves? Comes in black and emerald www.boohoo.com/boutique-lace-skater-bridesmaid-dress/GZZ17821.html

urbanbuddha · 06/11/2022 03:14

There's also this in a 12 - 13.

creideamhdóchasgrá · 06/11/2022 03:30

15 yr old

You will have to resort to bribery or punishment. So £10 pocket money if they do this. Or no phone/wifi all weekend if they keep making a fuss/ grounded etc

Or both

Surely they realise there are certain occasions when they have to dress a certain way? Interviews /weddings/ parties /christening /meals out and so on. I can't ever imagine/ remember behaving like this.

Anyway younger sounds more like leggings and nice tunic top would be more her thing . 15 year old velvet minidress and tights and shoes. She can then rip add some ripped tights and DMs to make a slutty Santa out fit
