Are DMs worth the money?

I have fallen in love with these boots but the are more expensive than I would normally spend. Are they worth it or should I be looking elsewhere for something similar?

I don't have those particular ones but I bought my DM Chelsea boots 6 years ago and wear them most autumn/winter days and they still look pretty good.

Eminybob · 05/11/2022 16:52

That's what I keep telling myself, they will last for years. Cost per wear will be minimal

I have a different style of DMs and I’ve had them for four years, wear them regularly and they’re still looking good, they do last well.

MusselMam · 05/11/2022 16:57

They are an investment. Go on, get them! Buy some Dubbin, clean them regularly and they will last for years.

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 05/11/2022 16:59

Try some on and really walk around the store because I find them very heavy and too solid for my feet. Have had a couple of pairs over the years and I just can't get to the point where they're broken in because it's too painful.

NewBootsAndRanty · 05/11/2022 17:04

I've just brought some brand new Serena boots (the fluffy lined classic ones) on Ebay for £70, I couldn't justify paying full price in store to myself.

They'll last a few years, and the lining is really cosy.

ThomasHardyPerennial · 05/11/2022 17:05

Nope.

SoundMachine · 05/11/2022 17:06

I have the DM fur lined leonores which are similar in style and I love them so much - comfortable right from the start, warm and waterproof.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 05/11/2022 17:10

Most uncomfortable boots I've ever worn so it's a no from me.

Nope.

Why not?

I find them hideously painful to wear znd they are vastly overpriced these days.

EconomyClassRockstar · 05/11/2022 22:41

DD is still salty that I accidentally donated hers when we moved house but, in fairness, every single time she wore them, she was almost in tears when she got home!

Novemberhater · 05/11/2022 22:45

I have these exact boots. They are true to size and never needed breaking in. They have just come out for their third winter and are still in perfect condition. I highly recommend them.

firesideglow · 05/11/2022 22:46

I have those exact boots OP and have not taken them off since I got them about 4/5 weeks ago. Worth every single penny, extremely comfy and snuggly!

firesideglow · 05/11/2022 22:47

Get them Get them Get them!

Derrymum123 · 05/11/2022 22:56

Get them. I have many different pairs. They are so comfortable and go with anything . They are an investment and will last for many years.

MrsHughesPinny · 05/11/2022 23:20

I think so. Every pair of DMs I’ve had has lasted years and been worn to death and I’ve been wearing them since about 1996!

Afterfire · 05/11/2022 23:25

I love dms but they don’t love me and my middle aged feet. Torn to shreds!

Pea79 · 05/11/2022 23:45

I have the DM Leonore Fur Lined Chelsea Boots, which look very similar to the ones you like, and they've been worth every penny. They have not needed breaking in, have been very comfortable from day one and still look good a few years later. My cousin saw mine and bought some too and she's had the same experience as me.

These have been the total opposite to the traditional lace-up DM boots, which I spent MONTHS breaking in and tore my feet and ankles to absolute shreds.

Buy the boots. Wink

chalkyc2 · 06/11/2022 07:02

I also have the leonore fur lined Chelsea boots - my only problem is they are extremely warm - I literally can't wear them unless it's pretty cold! I want a pair of regular Chelsea DMs now - they're much more comfortable than my 6 hole lace ups.

TumbleFryer · 06/11/2022 07:05

If you like really solid, heavy shoes then go for it. I can’t walk far in DMs. Much heavier than any other boots I’ve ever owned. Also, they take a very long time to break in and are very uncomfortable to begin with. I’ve known people having to tape their feet up for months.

Cincinnatus · 06/11/2022 07:53

I also have the Leonore Chelsea boots. This will be my sixth winter wearing them. Never had any problems and they are so comfortable.

Username917778 · 06/11/2022 07:55

This is my 3rd winter with my fluffy lined leonore boots, I absolutely love them. I never had to break them in or anything or had any pain in wearing them, not sure if that's from them being fluffy? Totally waterproof boots were such a game changer for me in winter.

Eminybob · 06/11/2022 09:46

Well I'm convinced. I haven't had a pair of DMs since the 90s and I do remember them bring quite painful to wear, but the consensus is that the fur lined ones aren't, so I'm going with that! Ordered.

I've got some that I've had for 8 years, still going strong. I never had to wear them in as they've always been comfy for me!
